It’s been almost 6 years since we started plotting and planning. Wrapping up this project has brought up lots of mixed emotions. Working with such an incredibly talented group of people was one of the most expansive times of my life. Seeing this vision completed better than I ever could have imagined is truly wild. I’m beyond impressed and thankful and happy to have been part of it all.
However, the sads have taken hold. Slowly saying goodbye to the people (and machines) who helped build everything is not fun. The excavator did its last job at Nice Valley yesterday. It became part of the visual landscape and will be strangely missed. I’ll miss guessing whose truck is coming up the road by its exhaust. I’ll miss knowing what time it is based on the sounds of the day. Most of all, I’ll miss seeing and getting to know everyone who came through. Having them be part of my family’s daily world was really cool. Hope they know how much their time and work means to us.
Sharing feelings is not my favorite thing to do, but I am too full so out they go! If you need me, I’ll be crying in the woods listening to Dolly just to torture myself even more.
