Buseman Eileen 52M a first calf Prolific daughter with a nice Deer Valley Diplomat bull calf at side. It will be fun to see this pair develop!

Buseman Miss Wix 2F

She was up getting a drink when I was checking for calves. She’s never been flushed, never won a show, ran on stalks until she came home Monday- she’s bred AI just like every other year- she will calve in a week- she’s got a really good True Grit son in the bull pen (lot N11). To us she’s perfect. 8 years old, producing and looking like a champ. This is exactly what we are trying to raise.

Beautiful night to bring the next AI group home from stalks. We have been down to 4-5 calves born a day for the past few days- but it should pick up again shortly!

We’ve had About 80 calves the past 10 days- it’s amazing how these babies grow! Best of luck to everyone calving in this frigid cold! Time to cowboy up!

We have a busy day of shipping and selling feeder calves at Sioux Falls Regional Livestock tomorrow.

Trying to get some calves processed in the warm barn so they can get booted out tomorrow morning to make room for the calves born overnight!

Everything gets a couple vaccinations and an EID tag scanned into the computer so we know for sure who belongs to who- if a tag gets lost. It’s a pain to do now but a blessing when we need it!

8pm-2am is a consistent time for us getting calves. We’ve been averaging around 7/night in that time frame. I’m sitting at 5 right now with 2 on deck in the next hour!
