Not only was yesterday the first day of the Minnesota State Fair, it was also our first day of picking grapes at Cannon River Winery. We pulled three tons of edelweiss and a ton of prairie star! Not a bad start!

We opened up these rows of La Crescent grapes by leaf thinning, where we removed all leaves touching the grapes and all tertiary fruit (small clusters), before our wine club vineyard party at the beginning of August.

You can see the effects of the the sun exposure. They are more gold and orange than the rows that are still hiding in the dense leaf canopy. These beautiful colors develop more aromatics, making wines with cool flavors like linalool and other volatile terpenes that taste tropical and awesome. Can't wait to see what kind of wine results from these sun exposed rows. Also, the grapes taste really good. They are at 20 brix. Almost ready.

Second day of delivering wine to the MN State Fair!

Today we are stocking up Coasters Beer Garden and Mancini's al Fresco ! You are going to want to try their RoséMonade and Blood Orange Bellini! They are reeeealy good. We also have various of our wines for sale by the glass.
