Belle Creek Cattle

Belle Creek Cattle 100% Grass Fed Beef. No antibiotics. No growth hormones. Just green grass and sunshine! Early on I came to the conclusion that something would have to change.

Belle Creek Cattle resides on a small family farm in South-Eastern Minnesota. In 1945, my grandfather Delmor Anderson purchased this land to pursue his dream of farming. The farm, though small—only a 185 acres—was enough to support his family of 13 (11 children). My grandfather eventually retired and sold the farm to my father in the early-90s. I have been involved in the farm since I was young, h

owever it wasn’t until I had graduated college and moved back home that I was able to live out my dream of farming and raising beef cattle. My wife, Angie and I along with our three children, Stella (10 years) Sophia (8), and Silas (5), live on the farm. The pastures were continuously grazed for fifty plus years, resulting in poor grass growth, erosion, and weeds galore. Cattle were finished in a feedlot being fed corn, like the vast majority of beef cattle farms. Cattle are not made to eat corn. If they eat too much they can easily get very sick, something that does not happen on grass! My wife Angie and I started Belle Creek Cattle with a goal of implementing a rotational grazing system, raising 100% grass-fed Black Angus beef without the use of antibiotics or growth hormones and eventually selling all finished beef direct to consumers. Rotational grazing allows the land/grass to recuperate between grazing periods, which encourages deeper/thicker sod stands reducing erosion and weeds. The high stock densities experienced for a very short duration force the cattle to graze more evenly across each pasture paddock. The result is simply better for the cattle and the land. Why buy Belle Creek Cattle beef vs. your typical grocery store beef? Your typical pound of ground beef you purchase at a grocery store consists of 100s of animals. Large meat processing facilities grind 100s of animals a day. If any one of those animals is sick or infected or loaded with growth hormones, the entire lot of meat is affected. Contrast this to what you are getting from Belle Creek Cattle. The meat you receive comes from one animal. This animal was raised from birth on this farm on green grass and sunshine. Belle Creek Cattle does not use hormones or antibiotics on any of our cattle…ever. We control all input into the animal starting with the grass available to them in the pasture, but we also grow our own alfalfa/hay (non-genetically modified plants only!). The small butcher shop that we use processes at most three steers per day, one at a time, processed to order for you, our valued customer.
