Hey Y'all. Look what came across my timeline from 10 years ago. I wanted to share it with you.
The 2016 Louisiana Floods were devastating. There are a few pictures here that show homes that lost everything. It was neighborhood after neighborhood that looked like this.
Chef Marcus and Chef Isaac Toupes cooked day and night to make 2000 meals. Our son Killian got a pass from school and an extra credit to go help hand out the food in Gonzales, LA. Fund fact the tables did not make it to the location and Killian was the perfect height to hand out the food on top of coolers.

I want to thank all you beautiful people that came out to our closing party. We saw new and familiar faces. I was so busy I did not get many pictures. When we figure out what Homer's 3.0 will be. You will be the first to know. In the meantime if you see us out and about don't be shy come over and say hello.
Shout out to Melissa McLean and Charlie Dolan for helping us out with BOH and FOH so we could try to talk to everyone.

Party time Y'all. If you came out to the benefit it will be very similar. Buffet style. A donation box for Homer's Gumbo Pot 3.0. The band will play from 3pm to 6pm. The only thing we will charge for is Booze. If folks would like to lend tents, tables and chairs again that would be awesome.
No we do not have a future plan set in stone. However we are looking at some great options. Y'all will be the first to know when we do.

Hello all you beautiful people. We have some unpleasant news. It’s not you, it’s not us, it’s the Fremont Sanitation District. After 15+ years of our building having been zoned as some sort of eatery the sanitation district has decided we need an inground grease interceptor. This is not something that can be ordered off Amazon. The price for this is astronomical for a small business that rents. We do not own the building and our landlord, as amazing as he has been, has the building that includes the gym for sale, and does not want to spend that much money on this. So, with that said we will be closing shop at 1530 Elm Ave. We were told they are being generous with the few months notice. Our last day will be our two year anniversary party. It will be August 22nd.
We do not know what Homer’s Gumbo Pot 3.0 will be. We have not had the time to find a solution as fast as we have gotten the news and have an imminent date of closer. We are without words on how grateful, appreciative and in awe of how many of you have supported us and been absolutely fabulous. You know we consider each and every one of you as family. So, if you see us out and about in town come over say hello and get a free hug. Until then we will still be here serving our hearts out for you. We are going to start closing on Sundays to help us get our ducks in a row.

Hello all you beautiful people. The benefit party was a huge success. It was such a success that we raised more money than we could possibly spend on handing out food. We love our community and wanted to give back locally to places where we know every dollar will count. Today we had the pleasure of meeting with the leaders of the Beulah Community Center . They have been non-stop helping people affected in the community. They are feeding folks as well. We are absolutely happy to be able to start providing them with meals. We also met with the
Beulah Fire Protection and Ambulance District. If you didn’t know, a crew of just 22 volunteers is what saved the main city of Beulah during the worst part of the fire. I have attached a link to the news story on that. We split the funds between the two organizations. They are also taking all the non-perishable donations. Once again we are all greatly moved by your love and support for our neighbors.

Congrats to Shawn & Brianna. The had their wedding reception right here at the restaurant. Stanley Milton's Mean Streak played and I turned my Strawberry nana puddin' cake into a wedding cake.

The benefit party was a huge success. We are so moved by our customers and our community. It was a much bigger turn out than we could have ever imagined. We would like to thank Stanely Milton's Mean streak for the entertainment as well as John & Betsy Lane, TJ Aiken and Ian Mallary. These musicians played in the insane heat. Kerry the base player passed out and went back to play more. They do not make humans like this anymore. We could not have pulled it off without Chef Charlie and Chef Leeland. We ran out Beans, most of the Gumbo, Chef Charlie's Green Chilli, all the seafood and about 200 Boudin Balls. Chef Leelands Fry Bread desserts went so fast I did not even get to try them. Together we served up a buffet of delicious food. We thank our friends the McLean’s for helping us keep the day running smoothly with all the little things that really add up. It would have been a mess without them. A big thank you to Amy, Ryan and Joe who lent us tents, tables and chairs. Joe even helped set them up and take them down. He saved my back literally. Last but not least all you beautiful people that showed up and showed out. It truly was an amazing day.
If anyone like to send me pictures to add feel free.
