Road's End Farm We are a small farm raising livestock in a healthy, pasture based setting. we also produce maple syrup and birch syrup every spring and available year round!

We are a small farm in Western Maine raising pastured livestock. Animals are healthier and more nutritious when they are given the opportunity to live the way nature intended. In the spring we also make and sell maple syrup!

Want to fill your freezer with delicious local pork just in time for grill and barbecue season? We can help! We have pigs ready to go to feed you! A whole pig is $650 and you pay the butcher fees! (A bit more than $1/lb) This is the last chance at this price as the price of grain has gone up quite a bit for us the last few months. The end of April and end of May both have pigs available. Message us to reserve one!!

Quick snow storm this afternoon while the sap is running, pretty cool to see. The end is near for maple season here, red maples are giving up which means it's almost time to call it quits!

Completed a successful test and wash of our new "Franken RO" that was pieced together with an old Lapierre head unit and a generic rig that had 2, 8 inch membranes. We ditched the old pressure pumps for a new 600 gallon per hour Procon pump. We will only use 1 membrane right now but we have the option to run 2 if we have enough trees in the future. If we get enough sap this week we'll run a test to see what kind of flow and concentration we can achieve. It flows around 700gph with permeate water at 300-350psi. It should reduce our reverse osmosis run time by over 3 times. It also means we need to tap more trees...and a small addition to our little sugar shack to have an insulated room to keep it in!

We are boiling 14 brix (%) sap tonight. With the extended run we have low sugar content coming out of the tree at 1.4% sugar. We use our reverse osmosis to help remove a lot of the water to save time and fuel (wood) in the evaporator. Also makes for a fun evening because it seems like syrup is coming out every time you turn around!! Technology comes in handy sometimes.
