Meet the new addition to the farm! This is ‘Basa’! In the Basque language, spoken in the Pyrenees mountain range, Basa means companion!

Our Livestock guard dog Daisy is still doing well for a senior girl (10 years old!), but I wanted her to be able to teach the new guy the ropes before she retires!

Basa has to remain contained for a few weeks to learn the location so he’ll be less prone to wander too far, and also so the required introductions can be done through the fence. He’s at the vet today getting his necessary procedure done.

He’s already a very good boy, and very compliant and walks on a leash well. He’s going to make a good guard dog!

Delivered a very special project today to our Sheriff. 😁

All the wood is local from Haywood county with a small bit from Buncombe county. The bottom is all white oak with a walnut desktop. The desk boldly proclaims ‘In God we trust’ on top with additional Bible verses in the drawers facing the Sheriff. The desk itself likely weighs 700-800 pounds or more.

Included were a few plaques for his Chief Deputy Matthew Trantham and Chief of staff Miriam Harvey. Also a couple large Sheriffs department office bowls and a coaster set emblazoned with the Sheriffs office star.

There is additionally a bullet embedded in a drawer that was placed 25-30 years ago into a tree that stood in my grandparents backyard that eventually made its way into this project.
