The best festival in Toledo is happening this weekend, the Old West End Festival - Toledo Friday evening through Sunday. Saturday from 9am to 1pm I will be stationed along the parade route with Flying Rhino Coffee at 2333 Robinwood where you can get delicious coffee. It's a woman owned business and Angie the owner is *serious* about her beans. Also DJ 419 Designs, you might know her as Deb Augustine local hairstylist and artist will have lots of cool crafts and handmade jewelry for you!

I will have some of my Ticketybootique costumes and some of my comics there for you to grab! If it rains during that time subject to change and we will all find Mother Nature for a cage match. Also shout out to Vod's Here, Sewing & Crafting Emporium she will be set up at 2320 Scottwood Ave selling her handmade clothing. Vod is quite a seamstress and the coolest so make sure you make it over that way!

Otherwise Saturday look for a yellow hat and come say hello. I prefer that to the quick stare, I swear I'm friendly. 😶‍🌫️😅

Back in September I got to know this small scratch bakery and my life and waistline haven't been the same since (no regrets). I saw a video on Tiktok of her and it seemed she needed a little spotlight. So I went and my video hit 96k on tiktok, big for me back then. People came out all the way from Detroit to support. But it's been slow since winter, especially during the week.

If Chow Down Detroit tells you to go, GO. This man is making differences and I hope Brianna has some soft soled shoes, good luck this next week 😅 Also follow Seoung of Chow Down Detroit and One will make you feel good, the other will fill your belly good.

Food truck season is BACK and so is Beastro Burger Truck! I thought we had lost them to Florida but they've returned to Toledo to feed you with some of the best food truck burgers in the NW Ohio area.

I keep hearing about a French onion burger, I need to try that next time. But don't skip the fries. Hand cut fries in a food truck are rare so treat yourself. And you know... dip them in mayo.

There's a fuzzy in my hair, don't care 😅. A quick little word because today was so nice. Thanks for making that server's evening. I was showing her the comments as they came in every time she came over to my table. I tried to sneak out at the end and she ran to the door opened it and waved goodbye. This is the type of business to support. You can see my previous post about Sushi Yoshi and pictures of the food I enjoyed.

Put this on your *finally* a local restaurant that is OPEN on a Monday! I can't find any of their social media online which might be why you've drove right past it. Sushi Yoshi is on Monroe St almost exactly across from Target. It's been here a bit of time but for a Monday I'm the only one in here, and the sushi and appetizers are excellent. Let's change this, Toledo.

I got the Beef Negimaki which is six pieces of beef wrapped around green onions. It is delectable. Umami rich sauce that is slightly sweet and then the crunch of the green onions breaking through the soft grilled tender beef... wow.

I also got the crispy spicy tuna roll, four large pieces of deep fried spicy tuna drizzled in eel sauce and spicy mayo. It's indulgent in the best way. I love the crunchy little bed of tempura flakes and I might have tried to eat them with my chopsticks with little success but don't worry, they have forks too.

I got two plates that filled me up for just under 20.
And guess what, they are open until 10pm! You can't find that in Toledo often. Sweetest server too, please be gentle Mayo Gang, let's show up to this restaurant that should have more seats filled. Sushi for dinner tonight, even late night.

Oh, and they have mochi ice cream... even a Dubai chocolate mochi. I'm in heaven.

Oh boy we are going to make Bernie really mad this week. School is out, you're planning your trips and I've got you on the best food spots. I'm going to take you back to Pittsburgh with me, we're going to head to Monroe Michigan for one of the best burgers I've had in a long time (plus Monroe is such a cool area to day trip if you like plants and vintage shopping ...both types of plants, there's a houseplant boutique up there 😅), and we are going to finish up the Sandusky area with some delicious W I N E and frozen yogurt and a brewery and and and

Most importantly, it's the week before Old West End Festival. Will I see you there? Are you coming? I might have a place set up on the parade route for you to get some pet costumes designed by me and comics drawn by me. More on that later!

For now, get excited for me to talk about Pabellon where I had Venezuelan food and the best of the BEST empanadas I've ever had.

Remember when I posted a picture of me and Mr. Ronald McD? Well the secret is out! I'm going to be a celebrity judge for Cork and Pork, a fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio Did you know they are entirely funded by charity, AND they serve ALL hospitals in the Northwest Ohio region, not just Toledo Hospital? When a family has a loved child being seen in a healthcare facility, RMH provides a place for the family to stay, regroup, eat, and sleep (and honestly a lot more) at no charge.

Look I work for healthcare as my main job, and I can tell you this is a beautiful thing. I've always said healthcare should be universal, and Ronald Mcdonald House of NW Ohio is doing their part. 🥰

You ever get stuck on a food item? I've been thinking about the birria torta at Taqueria El Gallo De Oro since I first had it in March. And since a lot of us got paid today, I'd say it's the perfect splurge but it isn't. Because it's only 11.99 and could technically feed two people. This is a budget friendly delight and you get to dip it in the savory consummé like a French Dip sandwich except it is of Mexican nationality more specifically the state of Jalisco.

Slow roasted fall apart meat and a cheese pull like no other. It's rich and tasty and filling. If you want to try something a little different from birria tacos, try the torta from here because it's similar but sandwich style.

This isn't your Margaritas and Mexican slop and plop restaurant where everything is sitting in a bucket in the kitchen ready to go. It's made fresh to order, you stretch your legs under the table in this tiny taqueria and scroll your phone or chat with a friend you brought with you. In fact they don't even offer margaritas. It's all about the food. And in my mind, that's perfectly fine.

I went last week and I might go again this weekend. It's on Secor in the plaza next to Packo's. Yum.
