Woolly Bear Farms A small flock of Corriedale sheep. I work on breeding sheep with fine fleeces. Woolly Bear Farms is a small colored corriedale flock located north of Detroit.

I have been working with sheep since I was 10 years old and the farm gets its name from my first sheep Gummie Bear. The farm is named in memory of its founding flock member Gummie Bear. I concentrate on raising happy and healthy sheep with beautiful fleeces.

Hadley picked up a hitch hiker the other day. Silly Cicada thought Hadley’s jacket looked like a good place to shed its exoskeleton. That Cicada made a wise choice, Hadley is a gentle soul. Definitely the best ram I have ever owned.

The girls and their ram lambs did great at the 4H show last week. First year of showing under their belts. Learned a lot and we will be preparing to come back even stronger next year. It was a wonderful experience, and I can’t wait for next year’s fair!

I found these silly ladies out eating grass in 90 degree weather. I lead them back to the grass in the shade. But some still chose to eat in the sun. Apparently the grass out in the sun just tastes better.

This post is a week overdue. But the sheep were shorn last Friday. Which turned out to be perfect timing with all the hot weather we have had this week. All the sheep are now wool free and happy!
