Strawberries are still a few weeks away but don't forget we have our own small pick your own field. That is 100% chemical free. It is a little wild, as no chemicals, and not enough man hours, meant the weeds won a few battles this Spring.

When Alvin purchase the farm in 1957 it came with a large established rhubarb patch. Over the years Jodie and Alvin transplanted crowns to different locations on the farm creating more smaller patches. This past spring we transplanted more crowns as well, to create larger patches.

Tucker, Caitlin, Casey, and Lincoln, along with Caitlin's husband Steven have taken over working the farm land at Alewives Brook Farm, Reverend Robert Jordan and his wife Sarah Winter arrived in Cape Elizabeth in 1640, jump a few generations, Alvin Jordan purchased and started Alewives Brook Farm in 1957, moving a young Jodie Jordan to the farm. Jodie then took over the farm in the early 1980s. Caitlin then took over full management of the farm in 2023. The current generation is looking forward to continuing a farming tradition and creating a more sustainable and stable future for the farm.

These antique farming machines, a potato planter, bean thrasher, and root tumbler are headed to be archived at the Skowhegan Fair. We were so grateful they could find a purpose beyond taking space in the barn for the last 30+ years.
Exciting to see more changes to come. M
