If you haven't guessed. I love German food but rarely eat it as my father did not use recipes that were written down - so one either had to watch and learn - or eat and forget -

This is from my dear friend in Germany - - - and looks delicious - easy too !!!

Helpful hints -
If you don't have flour in the house - use Bisquick - it's fast and easy - also, Makes the best drop dumplings for your chicken soups - - -

This is my dad's recipe (Raymond Kuehl, who was from WI) - Some military people might refer to this as "chili mac" - Back home in Wisconsin - we call it “Chili.”

For a quick, hearty, meal on a cold night, most ingredients can be found in well stocked kitchen pantries. It is even better the next day re-heated on the stove top - Or make a large pot - and freeze small containers for future meals - just thaw and reheat on top the stove -

After it's made, just leave it on the stove on low and you have a hot meal whenever anyone is ready for it. Be sure to experiment with the recipe to see what twist your family likes best !!!

.
People often make resolutions this time of year to lose weight - and think that means you must stop eating -
Dr's recommend to "cut-back" on treats - and continue to eat, but 3 small meals with snacks in between - This is one of my favorite snacks - which is also great to take to potlucks - to avoid snacking on sugary treats -

Helpful hints -
Instead of using cheese and lemon - after you drizzle oil, add garlic and balsamic vinegar - season to taste, then roast -

You may also use other veggies - try carrots, zucchini, squash, beets - - - Yummy - - -

Some studies suggest that balsamic vinegar has additional health benefits, ranging from improving a person's complexion to lowering cholesterol and aiding weight loss.

Now this is an easy basic recipe for creamed soups - which most people LOVE in the winter -

Helpful Hints

- If you are gluten free - use corn starch instead of flour to thicken -

My mom's trick to lump free gravy - Put the scoop of cornstarch in a glass beaker with spout, and add a 1/4 cup of warm water or milk, and stir with spoon until smooth then pour into pot until it thickens - lump free every time – You can use this trick to thicken soups, stews and other broths – or with the juices in your crockpot

Flour substitutions:
Use half as much cornstarch as you would flour. For example, if the recipe calls for 2 tablespoons of flour, use 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. If the recipe calls for 1/4 cup offlour, use 1/8 cup of cornstarch. (The same is true for other starches, such as arrowroot starch, potato starch, and tapioca.)

You can make cream of potato, broccoli, celery, just like Campbells but without all the sodium – add your own spices to taste -

Be sure to add your own version below in comments – Add photos – Let’s share all those tips our mothers, and their mothers, and their mothers have passed down for generations, before we had microwaves and packaged foods – Get back to eating homemade – the easy way -
