This early heatwave means early shearing. The Navajo churro sheep have to be sheared twice a year. This growth is since September. We’d normally have another month before starting. Girls done. Boys to go. #

Oreo and Honeysuckle settled in well but needed some sheep friends, we had been interested in raising Navajo Churro sheep as they have quite the history being brought into the US by Coronado and subsequently adapted to the climate of the Southwest, so we found Brandi and Sedona. Brandi was a bottle baby and very friendly, Sedona from a Diné flock in AZ. Both ladies were expecting and now our flock is 6. Brandi was bred to Tarzan so baby Jane is now 2 weeks old. Sedona had a Zuzax baby boy right as temperatures plunged (of course🙄) name to be decided.

We did a thing. Little-man Oreo and his momma Honeysuckle needed new pastures and I was up in Colorado for work so I picked them up. They are Navajo Churros with beautiful fiber, and after only 24 hrs had realized they were on to a good thing with us. If they come to say hi there might be a grass pellet or two to be had, and Honey is definitely a fan! We will be getting them friends, but for now they are content grazing adjacent to the llamas.

Apparently Easy llama did not approve of us ‘spying’ on them. We installed Ring cameras as there have been so many loose dogs around so we wanted to be able to see if there was anything going on. She managed to grab the camera, pull it and the stowed cord down, and the video ends as she finally yanks the cord. Thanks then Easy 🙄
