Good Seed Community Garden A community organic garden project with more than 85 garden plots available to anyone interested. Plots will be assigned the week of March 25.

The Orchard, located at 110 Snowmass Drive, Carbondale announces its newest project, the expansion of its Good Seed Community Garden plan. The Good Seed Community Garden is located on the north side of The Orchard property and will feature 39 garden plots in 2 size; 4’ by 10’ and 4’ by 20’. The annual cost for a small plot is $25 and $40 for the large plot. Garden plots will be assigned through a lottery from interested gardeners that have completed an application. The Good Seed Community Garden will be unique in that gardeners will be given the opportunity to contribute 10% of their produce to those in need through either Lift-Up or Feed My Sheep. Debi Boyle, the Carbondale food pantry coordinator from Lift-up said, “This is a great need because the Lift-Up program can’t supply fresh produce for a balanced diet. We would love it!”

The Good Seed Community Garden recently received a generous grant from the Harvey Family Foundation and is also partnering with local businesses to provide discounts for gardeners to purchase items like seed and tools. The garden has already received generous donations of compost, fertilizer, sand and services to ready the land for planting. The garden is looking for donations of materials to build fencing , raised beds as well as pipe for the irrigation system.

Después de 13 años maravillosos, el Good Seed Community Garden cerrará el 1 de noviembre de 2026.

A SAD FAREWELL — AND A CHANCE TO CELEBRATE!

GOOD SEED COMMUNITY GARDEN IS CLOSING
If you’ve ever planted a seed, pulled a w**d, harvested a tomato, shared a laugh, or simply enjoyed the Good Seed Community Garden on Snowmass Drive in Carbondale, this announcement is for you!

After 13 wonderful years, the Good Seed Community Garden will be closing on November 1, 2026.

For many people throughout the valley, this garden has been a place of respite, connection, and a vital source of fresh food. Countless people have contributed their time, energy, and love to building it into the special place it is today.

We are deeply grateful to the church that generously allowed us to use this land for 13 years. The property will now be converted into much-needed housing.

But before we say goodbye, we want to celebrate all that we’ve grown together!

We’re inviting everyone who has ever been affiliated with the garden — longtime gardeners, volunteers, friends, neighbors, and anyone who has enjoyed or benefited from this special place — to join us for an end-of-season Harvest Party!

When: Sunday, October 18, at 4:00 PM
Where: Good Seed Community Garden, 110 Snowmass Drive, Carbondale

Food and beverages will be provided, and you’re welcome to bring something to share.

Help spread the word to others who have been part of the Good Seed community. Let’s come together one more time to share memories, celebrate friendships, and honor everything this garden has meant to our valley.

Gardeners! Stay tuned for the final details on our quickly approaching barbecue and harvest party!

We planned on October 11 but the weather is looking a little sketchy so we’re determining now whether to switch it to the following Saturday. In any case, we would like everybody to attend is this will be the last event like this ever for the Good Seed Community Garden! Share stories, pictures, and good food! I hear Hunter is going to be roasting a pig!

Good Seed Gardeners - Save the Date! We are having a Garden Harvest BBQ and party! It's either the 11th or 12th, I'm waiting for confirmation - so save both! It will be our last party, so we want EVERYONE to attend!

🌱 **A Note for Our Good Seed Gardeners**

Just a quick note to say: your plots are looking wonderful this year. It's clear how much care you're putting in, and it really shows. Thank you!

A friendly reminder — as part of being a Good Seed Gardener, everyone is asked to put in 5 volunteer hours helping out around the garden (w**ding, tidying, general upkeep), and to take part in one workday.

We know it's been a scorcher out there, so we've held off on scheduling anything. But with cooler weather on the way, now's a great time to get your hours in while it's actually comfortable to be outside.

We'll share workday dates soon — or feel free to stop by and put in some time whenever works for you. Thanks so much for being part of what makes this garden special. 🌻
