Pure Pet has announced plans to close its Carbondale location and bring its two stores together under one roof at its Marion location.

The Carbondale store’s final day will be Sept. 30, ending an 11-year run in the Carbondale community. Pure Pet said operating two locations has made it difficult to devote the time, attention and creativity it wants to the business.

Products from the Carbondale store will be moved to Marion, and customer accounts, frequent buyer rewards, gift cards and special orders will continue at the Marion location. Riley will also be joining the Marion store and continuing to handle special orders and ordering.

Pure Pet’s “Mama Cat” will make the move to Marion as well. The Marion location is also expected to expand to three self-service bath stations later in October.

Pure Pet said there will not be a traditional closing sale because its inventory is moving to Marion. However, the business plans to hold a small “yard sale” later this month featuring miscellaneous items such as baskets, displays and décor.

Pure Pet thanked Carbondale for supporting the business over the past 11 years and said consolidating in Marion will allow it to focus on creating new offerings, planning events and improving the shopping experience for customers and their pets.

2 DAYS. 65 VISITORS. 6 AMAZING VOLUNTEERS. ONE GROWING COMMUNITY.

A HUGE thank you to Food Works of Southern Illinois and Neighborhood Co-op Grocery and every one of the 65 people who visited our grow space for the very first time!

And special love to our 6 dedicated volunteers who showed up both days—welcoming visitors, watering, weeding, and helping us share what we’re growing and building.

This is what community looks like. This is what growing together feels like.
