What do you think about AB 1585?

What do you think about AB 1585?

The question on the table in Sacramento right now: should wine labeled "American" be made from American grapes?

Our friends at California Association of Winegrape Growers (CAWG) think the answer is yes โ€” and so do we.

Here's something most wine drinkers don't know: a bottle labeled "American" can legally contain up to 25% foreign wine.

California AB 1585 would change that โ€” requiring the label to mean what it says.

๐Ÿ‡ California farmers are suffering. Grapes are going unharvested, contracts canceled, vineyards removed.

๐Ÿ“ฆ At the same time, foreign bulk wine is entering the U.S. and being labeled "American."

๐Ÿท๏ธ AB 1585 closes that gap.

Not everyone in the industry agrees. And that's exactly why growers, vintners, and supporters need to speak up now โ€” before this bill goes to committee.
