CHUB LAKE TREE FARM

We are blessed with volunteer seedlings, which occur underneath large trees that spread their cones all over the farm. Some of them blow into line with their cousins and we can leave them to grow to maturity. But many are out of place, so each Spring we seek them out, gently uproot and then place them in spots where trees were cut last year and the cycle starts again.

Always a heartbreaker to see one of our trees go before their time, whether a first year sapling, a five year old youth, or a 12-15 year old friend like this one. 15 years from their arrival on the farm to their arrival in your home is a common life-span. And over that decade and a half, we feed, water and protect them from harm when Mother Nature cannot. Ya get a little attached to em.

When Spring FINALLY arrives in northern Minnesota...about another month or so.... we re-plant the areas that were cut in November/December by our customers. There are limbs and stumps to remove and newborns to plant.

In just 12 to 15 years, they'll be ready for adoption. The cycle continues.

Merry Christmas, from all the staff at the Chub Lake Tree Farm! Due to anticipated weather conditions, we will not plan to operate the Tree Baler anymore this season. However, you may still harvest a tree through Saturday, December 6, which will be the final day of cutting on the farm this year. Thank you, once again, for all the consideration you have shown us, and God bless you all. We hope to see many of you again next year.

Today, November 30, 2025, will be our last nice day at the Chub Lake Tree Farm for this season with full staff to assist in tying up your tree for easy transportation. The farm will be open for self service this week Monday through Friday for you to select a tagged tree. No other trees without a tag, may be harvested until next year. Next Saturday, which is December 6 the farm will be open with very limited personnel for your assistance. Open hours, that day will be 11 to 4. There may be somewhat limited choice of trees still tagged for harvest this year, by that time. We hope you all have a merry Christmas and a happy new year, and we deeply appreciate all of you who have been customers of ours, not only this year, but for the past several years, you have helped make the Chub Lake Tree Farm what it is.

We have a handful of very large trees which would be great in a large home or even a commercial setting. Some community halls or Churches could provide a special location too. Sound interesting? Come on over, find Jim & check them out!
