Grassie Croft Grassie Croft is a small family farm on 8 acres in Carmel, Maine.

We focus on heritage poultry conservation, sustainable food, and caring for our donkeys while learning to feed ourselves and our neighbors through permaculture principles.

Our teenage son had the fantastic idea to freeze some carrots and apples in a container as a special summer treat for the donkeys.

And as you can see, Elsie, Tippi and Jack absolutely LOVED it! ❤️

It’s always pretty special seeing our kids come up with their own ways to spoil and care for the animals here at Grassie Croft.

Since it’s black fly season here in Maine, our donkeys have their new fly masks on for the summer. These masks help protect their eyes, faces, and ears from biting flies and make life a whole lot more comfortable. They may look a little funny, but the masks really do help keep the bugs from pestering them all day long!
