Wanted to share something from the heart after a truly humbling and love-filled couple of months. 💜
Many of you already know our story, but for those who’ve just found us, supported us, or followed along, I felt it was time to share a little more.
Two months ago, I finally found the courage to open up about something very close to my heart. You see, the kitchen has always been my safe place—especially when I was in it with my kids. Cooking and baking together brought us so much joy, especially around the holidays. We’d spend hours creating yummy treats to share with others just to make people smile. Over the past few years, I’ve learned to hold onto those memories tighter than I ever thought I’d have to.
For those who are new here, I want to introduce you to a very special face—Laura. She went by many names: Laura Mary, T-Tummer, Waawaaa, My Favorite Daughter—but most of us called her simply, Lo. 💜
Lo loved lavender. Whether it was lavender tea, coffee, cookies, or even a lavender martini with a light-up ice cube—it was her favorite. ✨ Lo lost her battle on September 5, 2023, and died by su***de. There will never be words to describe how much I miss my daughter, my best friend, my travel buddy, and the person who first made me a mom.
Grief is life-altering—but I’ve learned that what you do with it matters. That’s how “Lavender & Lo” came to be: a way to keep her light and spirit alive, and to keep the conversation going. 💜
There are so many people I couldn’t have done this without.
First, my mom—known to so many as Babs. She came all the way from Florida to Maine, believed in me, pushed me, supported me, and never let me give up. We spent countless nights up until midnight (and just as many mornings starting at 5 a.m.), and there’s absolutely no way I could’ve done this without her. 💪🏼
To my favorite son, Jackson Zenk — thank you for all your help, advice, and for always being my #1 taste tester… even while reminding Paige and me that we’re “a bunch of old ladies” for doing this 🤭😂 — but still loving and supporting it anyway.
To my dearest friends:
• Amanda Pearson — my very first customer, road-trip partner-in-crime, and the inspiration behind our gluten-free creations. 🚗💨
• Amber Davis DeLoach — my longest friendship, the “no questions asked, I’ll be there” kind of friend. Thank you for countless phone calls, endless support, unconditional love, and always being there for a laugh or a cry. 💕
• Soarkman— for being a true friend and standing beside me through some of life’s hardest moments.
• Paige Wade— my farm stand partner and sourdough queen 🥖— thank you for being such a beautiful part of this journey.
And lastly, to my husband, Tyler— thank you for believing in me, helping me chase this wild dream, and tolerating all the late-night baking marathons. 🥰
To everyone near and far who has believed in me, supported me, and loved me through this — thank you from the bottom of my heart. Together, we’re keeping Lo’s spirit alive and continuing the conversation that truly matters. 💜✨
