Finally got the summer honey extracted and bottled. This is wildflower honey that is mostly from blackberry blossom nectar. Raw. Unfiltered. 1.5 lb squeeze bottles (1 pint) are $15. Hey Tolt Valley Sugars fans! I still have raw, unfiltered honey available. Price remains $12 per pint squeeze bottle (1.5 lb). I have both summer wildflower (lighter - mostly blackberry blossom nectar) and fall (darker - nectar mostly from blackberry, fireweed, and knotweed) in stock.

I'm not making big leaf maple syrup this season. As a result I have time to refine the beeswax I've been collecting over the last few years. I've been saving wax honeycomb cappings and burr comb (from when the bees and I disagree on where there should be comb.) The first step is trying to remove the non wax bits by melting, filtering and letting it cool and resolidify. I made a few one pound discs this weekend that will need to be melted and filtered again. Each disc started as about one gallon ziplock bag of wax cappings and burr comb.

Soon I plan on making crayon sized candles perfect for birthday cakes.

FYI: I do still have bottles of July harvest blackberry blossom honey and September harvest honey as well. $12 for 24oz net weight squeeze bottles.

With the bad weather we've been having, my smallest colony wasn't able to get out and forage. And I didn't realize how little stores they had. Most of the colony starved to death. I feel terrible, but all I can do is learn from my mistake. The queen survived and I've set up a feeder, but there may not be time for the colony to grow enough to survive the winter.
