Flat ground for Kindgrove's tent! Phew! I hired Cascade Ecology to help with it, plus blackberry clearing. They did such a great job! I worked all day in the orchard, making it look good. 17k+ steps. We are on our way (and I need a shower πŸ˜†)

Excited to be launching Kindgrove in the orchard this year! We're doing a mini program this summer, then aiming to do more events, classes, and workshops next year 🌿

🌼 Clearing Yarrow, St. John's Wort, and Wild Marjoram from my orchard to make way for Kindgrove's tent. I've been cultivating this space as a wild meadow for several years, and am drying all the herbs so nothing goes to waste.

I'm also only cutting back as much as needed, so some of the meadow stays in tact around the south side of the tent area and people can enjoy it as much as I haveπŸͺ»πŸŒΏ

PS. If anyone wants any of these fresh, LMK -- will keep them as a Pay-What-You-Want

It's summer! 🌞
What's your favourite summer food, the one that reminds you of summer no matter the time of year? For me, it's raspberries hands down. I found a patch of wild Blackcap raspberries on the farm today -- a good way to start the season πŸ˜‹

πŸ’ Our sour cherries are ready to go! These are Montmorency cherries, and date back to the late Middle Ages. They are excellent for making pies, jams, and preserves.

If anyone wants some, I'm selling them at $7.50/lb or Pay-what-you-can. Cash or Venmo. Pick up at farm on Tuesdays or Thursdays 12pm-3pm (if you're local to Carnation or Duvall, I'll deliver on Tues/Thurs for an additional $5). DM me how much you'd like and I'll pick 'em just for you πŸ˜‹

If I get enough Seattle-based orders, I'll drive into the City for drop-off too.

Also have several dozen eggs ($7/doz, $3.5/half dozen) and various herbs: peppermint, rosemary, lemon balm, calendula, feverfew.

Farming, let's gooo! I've had so many requests for "medieval food" (once folks find out I'm a former medievalist) so this year I've started a growing series for forgotten medieval fruits, herbs, and vegetables.

In pre-industrialized medieval societies, the plants grown not only thrived in poorer soils, but they were also what we'd consider superfoods and densely packed with nutrients: Good King Henry, Orach, Black Salsify, Skirrets, Alexanders, Fat Hen, Lovage, Corn Salad, Chervil, Rampion, Medlar, Quince, Montmorency cherries, and more.

Are these something y'all might be interested in trying?
