🍁 Hi flower friends! It’s a beautiful autumn day in NE Georgia and I’m spending it in the field enjoying the last of the dahlias as I begin to winter prep.
We have a hard freeze 🥶 forecasted for Monday night so I’m quickly gathering all the dahlia seed pods I can for drying inside. I’m hoping to try growing dahlias from seed next season.
Despite the many challenges this growing season, including intense heat and rain mid summer, the dahlias and gourds gave us a good show this season.
I’ll be leaving the dahlias in the grow bags this winter as the conditions are always perfect for storing (cool/damp/dark) and it works great. I picked up a trailer load of straw yesterday so I can begin cutting the fields back and covering them next week. I hope to have a small tuber sale next spring.
I hope everyone is enjoying these beautiful autumn days!
