August has and will be this year the best time to pick blueberries here at Pinecrest Farm.
August is the time when our late and very late maturing varieties begin to yield the succulent blues. That said, we have just begun at Pinecrest Farm in Richmond

Yes, we are hidden from drive by viewing that said -- Do we ever have blueberries to pick!!
The crop this year is absolutely the best and largest blueberry crop we have ever had in the 20 years that we have been doing this!
Blueberry season continues in grand style!!
Blueberry picking will continue through the month of August and into September; as August is the time when our late and very late maturing varieties begin to yield their succulent blues. That said, we have just begun picking at Pinecrest Farm!!
Now is the time for those who have a need to pick multiple pounds, that is, 10, 20, 30, 40+ pounds of nice big tasty berries.

Hint to help your picking become easier and faster: Get a quart cup or coffee can, pierce two holes opposite each other near the rim, then thread a shoe string or heavy twine through each hole leaving a loop that will go over your head and hang on your neck and there you go with a tool to temporarily drop your berries in. This will free up your hands just for picking and handling the bush. This tool greatly speeds up picking. Keep the tool small and simple.
Blueberry picking will continue through the month of August and through Labor Day and perhaps longer.
This year’s crop is absolutely the best and largest blueberry crop we have ever had in the 20 years we have been doing this -- even bigger than 2022 by about 5 times the quantity.
Thanks and hope to see you there,
Steve

It is a great day to pick BLUEBERRIES!!!
Berries are rapidly ripening!!!
There is extremely easy picking on berry laden bushes.
The bushes are so full, that the collective weight of the berries is making the bushes bend towards the ground.
We are off the beaten path, tucked in amongst a white pine forest. It is a very quiet and relaxing atmosphere.
Hours:
Sunday 8am -- Noon
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8am -- Noon & 4pm -- 7pm
Friday & Saturday 8am -- Noon
We are off Rt 112. Take Pinehurst Drive, then 200’ before entering Pinecrest golf course, take a left on to Pinecrest Road.
Look for and follow the signs.
We accept CASH, CHECKS and CARDS
Have a great day and hope to see you there!!

The 2024 Blueberry picking season is getting close to beginning at Pinecrest Farm in Richmond, Rhode Island.
July 10 is the target date to open. The berries seem to be ripening faster than in past years: that said, we may open a little earlier. It all depends on the quantity of berries available to make picking easy.
This season will, as it appears at present, will top our all time best 2022 season. The short last year 2023 season will be a bad past memory.
It was a spectacular sight when the berries were in bloom; it appeared like a solid white dome over the fields that soon to turn into a heavy burden of green berries. (See attached pictures)
The bushes are currently extremely laden with berries to the point that their weight is making the bushes droop and crowd the aisles.
Peaches should begin around being harvested around Aug 1. The orchard is young and bearing a small crop. Frost events this spring did a number on the blooms, but enough survived to afford us with a modest crop. (See photos of the peaches as they appeared July1)

Pinecrest Farm Pick Your Own Blueberries

This is an effort to keep you informed of our status.

We have experienced a higher number of customers than anticipated picking berries. The berries are getting picked faster than they can ripen. This is good for there will never be any over ripe berries to contend with and bad simply because of the disruption of picking days.

In the effort to provide you with a great and bountiful picking experience, not forgetting the delicious berries, we will be doing the following:

Closed: Sunday July 23 and Monday July 24.

We will open on Tuesday Morning at 8am and resume our daily schedule.

This effort will give the fruit time to continue ripening and also, carry us into the August blueberries and a time, as proven in past years, to be the best time of the summer to pick blueberries at Pinecrest Farm.

Thank you,
Owners of Pinecrest Farm
