Hey Locals, Alex here. This might be a longish post coming, but we're emotional and y'all are our family, so here goes.
We started this journey of Local Ties over 6 years ago. We had been in our dream home a little over a year, and Justin had just moved his homebrew equipment into our garage. Then we had this bright idea.... and it's history from there.
What most of y'all don't know, however, is that we borrowed against that same home to help fund and build our new dream, Local Ties! We have believed in this place fully since day one. No idea if we would make it, no clue of the friends and bonds we would make, but to us it was worth potentially losing our home to fund. In case y'all were wondering... totally worth it!
Well guys, today we officially closed on the sale of that same home, and Local Ties is effectively PAID OFF!!
We still believe in this new place we call home and we want it to be around for a while, so in order to lessen the burden moving forward, another sacrifice was needed. To be honest, we're in a years long battle with the lease on the building and we're facing a 40% increase in rent. We refuse to sacrifice quality, we're doing everything we can to not raise prices, and we love being here more than we love a house.
But this was our home. Our kids grew up here. It's where they started high school, made their dream teams, and had their first heartbreaks. It's where we first got serious about starting a brewery and pushed for excellence in the craft. It's where friends were made, our families gathered for holidays, and our staff was turned into our family.
It's also where we had sleepless nights. It's where we stared down debt that seemed neverending, where I sold my dream cars just to cover the shipping for our equipment, and where our kids moved away from as they grew up and followed their dreams.
I could go on forever, but just know that y'all have been worth every minute of sadness we've felt selling this place. We look forward to many more years of the Ties, hopefully, and can't wait to start this much lesser burdened chapter with y'all.
With love always,
The Griffins
P.s. The new house ain't so bad either.
