This is a very hard post to make!
Last night we returned home from State fair and unfortunately I found my favorite Nigerian dwarf doe Sweet Pea dead in the pasture.
She was my queen bee in the herd, she is the one who always help trained our livestock guardian dogs, she is the dam to our herd sire Lone Wolf. She was one of the original goats we first purchased.
She recently retired in the spring. And I was hoping she lived a long life here on the farm with us.
We noticed the night before she was acting off and had diarrhea. As always, we checked her temp which was a normal range, her eye color was good. So we treated with Bcomplex and probiotics and was going to monitor.
I’m not sure with her being 10 years old, if her body wasn’t able to handle the stress that was going on or what happened leading up to her death. But I will say that was the most difficult death to take in we have had here.
With that being said, her 3 month old buckling (wether) will be now available. We retained him to keep at her side. He needs a herd with other Nigerian dwarfs his age.
