Nearing the last call for registered buck kids…we will be running the elastrator through the buck kid pens this week.
All buck kids are $450 each.
We got some real lookers out of Rivkah X Osprey and Eileen X Pepper and Poppy X Pepper.

I don’t jump to start feeding grain to my kids since we feed so much milk but it’s getting to time.
First taste for this set of keeper doelings…they seem to approve!
Starting with the ones closest to the camera:

This is an exciting view for me. Mimm’s single buck kid couldn’t stand after the hard pull on Friday. First day we would put him upright and prop him with bedding but in no time he would be flat and spinning in his tub. Second day we took him out of the tub into a pen, little change. No muscle tone in the front legs. I started to lose hope. I have never had to put a healthy kid down and I have no wish to start. But it was entering my mind. Sunday was a turn for the better. He could lift his head, stay sternal and use his hind legs to go from side to side. When I went to give him his evening bottle he pulled himself to a stand! One front leg is markedly weaker making him face plant and he still would like to just lay around, but he can stand! Admittedly, I am using my boots to stabilizing him while he drinks but look at him 😊

I have never had to call one of my sons to help me pull a kid but today was a first.
A first I never want to repeat. He definitely showed up and said “what am *I* going to do?” Let me tell yah honey, he found out and I am so glad he was willing!
One very, very large single buck kid to wrap up Celtic-Knot’s kidding season. I’m done, so very, very done!
Both are doing pretty well considering, but dern the nuts! I would have liked a doe from Mimm

Poppy kidded during morning milking, admittedly I was running late to milking so that on me…😕but that is also why there is no sound to this video. It was pure chaos!
Thankfully my daughter has shouldered milking and she got it done while I tended Poppy. She has two bucks and a doe(doe is sundgau with silver ears and nose). Easy delivery and very thrifty babies.
