Pepper Steak with Spiced Rice 🥩🍚
This easy weeknight dinner is saucy, hearty, and packed with tender beef and bold rice flavor.
📝 Ingredients :
For the pepper steak:
1 ½ lb beef steak, thinly sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 small onion, sliced
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce, optional
2 garlic cloves, minced
½ tsp ginger powder or fresh grated ginger
½ tsp paprika
½ tsp black pepper
Salt, to taste
½ cup beef broth
1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water
For the spiced rice:
2 cups long-grain rice
3 ½ cups chicken broth or water
1 tbsp oil or butter
½ cup corn
1 small red chili, sliced, optional
1 bay leaf
½ tsp paprika
½ tsp garlic powder
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, optional
🍽️ How to Make It :
1️⃣ Season the Beef:
Toss the sliced beef with soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, ginger, paprika, black pepper, and a little salt. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes so the steak gets tender and flavorful.
2️⃣ Cook the Rice:
In a pot, heat oil or butter, then add rice, broth, corn, chili, bay leaf, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until fluffy for a bold spiced rice side.
3️⃣ Sear the Steak:
Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef in batches and sear until browned on the edges. Don’t overcrowd the pan so you get that homemade takeout texture.
4️⃣ Add the Peppers:
Toss in the red bell pepper, green bell pepper, and onion. Cook for a few minutes until the veggies are tender but still have a little crunch.
5️⃣ Make It Saucy:
Pour in beef broth and oyster sauce, then stir in the cornstarch slurry. Simmer until the sauce gets glossy and coats the beef. Serve over the rice for a cozy dinner bowl that hits the spot.
