Most days, lately, you’ll find me here.
Driving.
Mostly kids. Sometimes myself. Often students.
I don’t like driving. I never have. It puts me to sleep…. But this season of life calls for it and no season is ever perfect. So for now, I’ll drive, and I’ll drive, and I’ll drive.
But you know what I’ve realized?
Sometimes, those moments in the car with the kids, they’re really freaking special.
Sometimes, they’re the only moments in the day when we’re all forced to slow down enough to think, to talk, to listen….
Sometimes….the mornings are rushed, the days fly by, the afternoons have us jumping from one activity to the next and before we know it it’s dark outside once again.
But that time in the car? It’s when we can all just breathe for a minute, gather ourselves, discuss our worries, our thoughts, our hopes, our triumphs and our fears….
It’s become a time when we navigate the challenges of pre-teen emotions and friendships, together.
When God takes things we don’t love (driving allll the time) and turns them into truly precious and sacred moments, my hope is renewed.
And I am grateful.
