(The following is an unremunerated plug which may be useful to those finding themselves in a similar plight of replacing a tore down tractor seat.)
Our L3901 Kubota seat, being only 8 years old and barn stored, had delaminated with only the drain plug holding the foam and vinyl seat cover in place. OEM replacement is $540….OH, HAIL NAW!
After numerous replacement attempts with seats from TSC, Northern Tools, etc. in which the hole pattern did not match the seat mounting, "Trac Seats" popped up in yet another Google search with promising results, an EBay listing. Being uncertain as to the seat having the proper hole pattern, we phoned Trac Seats (888-416-8722). A LIVE PERSON HERE IN THE U.S., Florence, Alabama to be exact, ACTUALLY ANSWERED THE CALL WITHOUT HAVE TO GO THROUGH A PHONE TREE SELECTION PROCESS. Should have gotten the fellow’s name but he said to go to the business web site ( https://tracseats.com ) and gave the specific item to order and take advantage of the Black Friday 15% off sale. He advised that the seat wasn’t "fluffy" like the OEM but durability was much better due to seat engineering. He also said if for some reason the seat didn’t fit my existing brackets, to call back and he would ship brackets FOR FREE that would accept my pivot pin and fit for sure, 100%. HECK, OEM seat brackets cost as much as the new seat did. $106 paid and two days later, we were able to ditch the milk crate and boat cushion with the new seat that fit PERFECTLY. While the seat is indeed much firmer, the design is vastly superior to the Kubota $540 OEM.
From tractors to excavators, we will be calling Trac Seats for all our replacement seats in the future.
