FREE: Needs a new home. Our poor guy has lost his mate 💔. So, if Anyone needs a male Chinese Swan Goose! He's a good boy he just needs a family. We don't plan to get anymore geese. We just want him to have a good home with a few friends... A protector of chickens and a loyal mate if u happen to have a lady friend for him.... 🙂

Back to Our Roots

A couple of years ago while cooking for our family, I finally took notice to the meat that was laid out in front of me that came from our local store..... and while there was nothing different from the meat on this day than the days before it really struck me that something was off. The color wasn't fresh, the breasts were HUGE in a non-natural way, and nowadays there is glue in MOST meat products that you buy, there had to be a better way!!! My husband always talked about wanting to raise a few animals and grow our own garden so when we bought our house last year, we decided to give it a shot.

We started out small and bought 10 baby chickens from our local TSC and raised them up. Come butchering day, I was a little worried if we could actually kill and eat these birds we raised right in our back yard. The husband was a trooper and got the job done, passing the birds off to me to piece out, freeze and cook. Right away I could see and know it was going to be better than any chicken I had bought from the store. While the breasts were NOT as big as from the store, the color, and texture were so much better! The meat was PINK a true pink and it wasn't hidden behind a sheen of yellow and fat all over it. The meal I prepared with our first chicken was a whole barbecue chicken. A meal I have made many times from store bought. The taste was amazing, juicy, and falling off the bone. There had been no water injected to the meat to make it weigh more and therefore could really soak up more flavor. We are now hooked.

When you try something and you love it, you want to share it with everyone you know. So, of course, we started sharing with our friends and neighbors, all, so far, have said the same. Its some of the best they have ever had. We have now been trying to make the complete switch and become a self-sustaining homestead. Raising our own meat though chickens and rabbits, growing our own vegetables and herbs, as well as educating and helping others to get the kind of quality they deserve in their food as well, is now one of our passions.
