Pork (ribs) with roasted sweet potatoes and asparagus; it’s what’s for dinner! We have wonderful cuts available here at the farm, both fresh and smoked… but our thing is whole or half pigs custom cut; fresh or smoked to your liking. Next batch going on Monday and we still have a whole and a half available! Contact Uel (dm or call) and we’ll fill your freezer! Typically you fill out the custom cut sheet before and pick up the meat when it’s ready. We can even deliver to your door! Mangalitsa is a heritage breed that produces red, well-marbled meat that is healthy, tasty and without growth hormones or antibiotics. Ethically raised (pretty much pampered) and fed quality grains, veggies and natural forage. Try it! 207-756-2007

Tric and I are partnering with some friends to offer retreats of many sorts; but mostly around food, personal growth and healing. The goal is to provide/curate experiences that involve expert teachers and unique opportunities in cool places.
Please take this short survey regarding general interests around retreats. If you are seeking learning opportunities in homesteading, permaculture design or the like, please feel free to add topics in optional comment boxes. Skill at arms, hunting, trapping and first aid are not topics we are considering as offers.

A little brew to activate a new compost pile. Alfalfa pellets (rabbit kibble), molasses, water and lots of aeration.

Lion’s Mane totem grow with sawdust spawn from . I cut these 12” oaks in the winter, cut them into chunks yesterday and scored the surfaces with a cordless skillsaw. Bottom piece sits on a layer of cardboard to slow ground rot/competing mycelium. Sandwiched the spawn between the chunks and used 8” ledger screws to secure the pieces. I may have used too much sawdust spawn in each layer, it didn’t go as far as I’d hoped. Luckily North Spore has more! We are fairly new to growing Lion’s Mane, but will do four of these, cover them with big paper bags and keep them wet for the summer. The area will be in full shade in another ten days. By Fall 2023 we hope to be harvesting our own Lion’s Mane for the next ten years! has great how-to videos on their website as well!

Spring Processing day! Enticing the boys into the trailer with apples. Usually work for the first one… then it becomes a bit of a pig rodeo. Big thanks to who always helps me load and this time got chomped a bit on the leg in the process…

Newbees 🐝🐝🐝 Been working on this idea since fall, finally got them here! Thanks so much to and for all of their help teaching me and advising me about bees. Half the fun was in making/painting the hives and frames, building a platform and “installing” the bees all by myself (with Britt & Mike on phone support!)
