Remembering my friend Donna Martin… local artist and one of the most creative and interesting persons ever known. I first became acquainted with Donna when she enthusiastically came out to the farm in 2005 to write a newspaper story about our very first corn maze. When she saw we raised pumpkins she decided to try her hand at making pumpkin pie from scratch so I sent her home with a couple pie pumpkins and a recipe card. A few days later she texted me a photo that looked like a pumpkin pie explosion took place in her kitchen along with a witty remark. The following season after driving our yellow truck through the Cheeseburger parade I bumped into Donna and found her sporting a “Get Lost” t-shirt promoting our corn maze. That was Donna…always supporting, encouraging and one of the funniest people I’ve ever known.
