UGH! We hate to do this …
We have decided to cancel the Petals and Punch Brunch scheduled for tomorrow.

Several outdoor St. Louis events have been canceled due to the extreme heat and humidity this weekend, so we feel like it is in everyone’s best interest to cancel.

We will not be rescheduling this event.

If you have tickets you will be fully refunded. Please look for an email from Cville Market with that information.

Have a cool (& safe) weekend friends!

Will my $200 bug army actually make a noticeable difference? I genuinely have no idea.

But that’s farming. Try something. Watch what happens. Learn. Adjust. And occasionally spend an unreasonable amount of money on insects. 🫣

Just 2 more opportunities to come out and enjoy the flowers! This Saturday I have a morning session and an evening session. If you can’t make those, I have a handful of tickets for the Petals and Punch Brunch (8/15) that are now available due to the rescheduled session!

Deadheading is great… until it isn’t. 🌼
One of the biggest gardening myths is that every spent flower needs to be cut off.
When it comes to echinacea (coneflowers), I always leave some seed heads behind. Why? Because these aren’t forever perennials. After a few years they naturally start to decline, and those seeds are how the next generation gets started.
🌱 More plants for free.
🐦 Food for the birds.
🌼 A healthier, self-renewing patch year after year.
I still deadhead some to encourage more blooms—I just don’t deadhead them all.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for next year’s garden is… nothing.
Do you deadhead everything, or do you leave seed heads for nature to do its thing?

This is a really hard call but unfortunately the forecast for tomorrow is rain overnight tonight and into the morning.
Even if it’s not raining at 9am … trust me no one wants to walk around a wet flower field cutting flowers. Add on top of that the extreme heat warning that was issued and we just had to make the call to reschedule the Petals and Punch Brunch.
If you have purchased tickets be on the lookout for an email about your options and the reschedule date.

Flower farming in July is 🥵🥵🥵

So many farm tasks to do besides cutting flowers. Got to fertilize, pest management, the weeds are taking over, and still need to prep beds for Fall planting.
