When we first bought this herd from a friend, the second these cows saw me or the kids coming, they’d head for the opposite side of the pasture. 😂

Fast forward to now and apparently we’ve been accepted into the herd.

Millie Moo can stand at the gate handing out hay, the kids can wander around with us, and the cows are perfectly content to hang out and see what we’re up to. Kinda cool how far a little time and trust will get you. ❤️

We’re open 3:30-8:00 tonight! The signs are up, the weather is beautiful, and we’re basically just sitting outside enjoying it and keeping an eye on another mama who looks like she might be bringing us a new baby.

Good morning, my friends!

The store will be open this afternoon from 3:30–8:00, so if you’ve been wanting to grab the Back to School Scam, you can just swing in instead of setting up a time with me. 😂

We’ve got a busy one today. A couple errands this morning, unloading hay, and patiently waiting for our next baby calf to decide today is the day.

Well guys, we did it.

Peaceful Valley has officially been promoted from small family beef business to local scam operation. 😂

Apparently the Back to School sale, 20 lbs of ground beef for $155, warranted its own Facebook dissertation.

So before Dateline shows up at the farm, let’s discuss this highly sophisticated scam.

20 lbs for $155 = $7.75/lb.

I tell you the price.
I tell you how much beef you get.
Then comes the really sneaky part…

You decide if you want to buy it.

Absolutely ruthless operation I’m running here. 😂

We raise the cattle, feed them, pay for processing, packaging, equipment, land, freezers, electricity and all the other fun little expenses involved.

And yes, at the end of all that, I would like the business to make money.

I know. Shocking development.

Buy your beef wherever you want. Grocery store, another farmer, us. Whatever works for your family. I have never once claimed everyone needs to buy their beef from me.

But calling a business a “scam,” “con artist” and “greedy” because you don’t like the price is a little different.

So I figured we should hear from the alleged victims.

Yep, we do actually sell beef here. 😂

For anyone new around here, this little spot is Peaceful Valley Cattle Co.

We’re a first-generation farm outside of Cashton, raising our own beef from start to finish. Our cattle are fed a TMR year-round, along with pasture when the Wisconsin weather decides to cooperate.

Inside that little door you’ll find individual cuts, steaks, ground beef, snack sticks, patties, wieners and whatever else I haven’t sold out of that week. We also offer quarter, half and whole beef and pork shares.

It’s not a big fancy storefront. Usually it’s me, probably a kid or two (or four) and a freezer full of beef.

But it’s ours. And we’re pretty proud of what we’re building here.

So yep. Amidst all the Facebook excitement, we do actually sell beef. 😂

Back to School Sale
20 lbs of our ground beef for $155

Twenty 1 lb packages of our premium roughly 90/10 grind. Lean enough that you’re not dumping half your supper down the drain in grease, but still enough fat to actually taste like beef.

Toss them in the freezer and make the school-night supper scramble slightly less offensive.

Sale runs through Labor Day, September 7th.

Might as well get something out of this whole ordeal.

Hi, I’m Kathleen.

There’s been quite a few new people around here lately, and since I’m usually the one behind this page, I figured I should probably introduce myself.

I’m a wife, mom of four, first-generation farmer and the face behind Peaceful Valley Cattle Co.

Most days I’m bouncing between kids, cattle, the farm, filling beef orders and trying to remember what I walked into the house for.

We started this because I wanted people to be able to buy good beef from someone they actually know.

Turns out, I really love the people part of it too.

I like knowing who’s feeding our beef to their family. I like seeing the same names come back. I like when someone messages me asking what the hell to do with a cut they’ve never cooked before.

So yes, I sell beef.

But mostly I’m building the kind of business I’d want to buy from.

You may have heard about the 300,000 metric tons of beef being imported over the next 90 days. For perspective, that’s roughly 2-3% of the beef the U.S. eats in an entire year. Do I think it’s great for American cattle producers? No. But I’ve learned I can care about something without letting it steal my peace.

Markets are gonna market, politicians are gonna politic and apparently we’re gonna import beef while telling American cattlemen to rebuild the herd 😂

So I’m just gonna stay over here and raise my beef.

Go outside. Talk to your neighbor. Watch your kids play. Soak in their smiles. Enjoy the s**t that actually matters.

Everything runs in a cycle.

And if nothing else, know you’ve got a beef producer in your back pocket who has your back.

It’ll all buff out 😂
