For more than fifty years, Sliman Mansour made Palestine visible. Through his brush, on canvas, on walls, and in the imagination of the world.
He gave us our images. The olive tree. Jerusalem. The fallaha in her embroidered thobe. The Birds. The family.
He built a visual language that we, Palestinians knew at once as our own.
Because of Sliman Mansour, Palestinian art has a ground to stand on. Every artist who paints this land today is working in a field he helped clear.
