Moments of peace and beauty in our homeland: the quiet of familiar mountains, the warmth of our people, the land that continues to hold us. Small, fleeting glimpses of calm that remind us who we are and what we love.
At the same time, our people continue to endure unimaginable ظلم.
Lives disrupted, families grieving, stories the world too often chooses not to see. Holding both truths at once feels impossible, yet it is our reality.
We hold on to what is gentle, what is beautiful, what refuses to disappear, while knowing the world must not look away from what is unjust.

Land Day is often spoken about in terms of history and politics, and it is both of those things, but it is also something lived. It is about how people relate to the land they are part of, and what happens when that connection is disrupted or controlled.

This year marks 50 years since Land Day, since 1976, when Palestinians rose up against the confiscation of their land, asserting something fundamental: that land is not separate from life, but at its very core. That moment is remembered as history, but its conditions have not remained in the past. They continue into the present.

This extends beyond Palestine alone. Across Blad Al-sham (Greater Syria). In Lebanon, in Syria, in palestine, they still steal, bomb, and occupy new parts of the land.

“Hands off our land” is not simply a slogan; it is an insistence that land cannot be endlessly taken, reshaped, or controlled without consequence. It is a call to recognize that land holds memory, sustains life, and cannot be separated from the people who live in relationship with it.

This didn’t begin in October 2023.
The starvation of Palestinians in Gaza is not new. It is the intensification of a decades-long policy.
Since Israel imposed the blockade on Gaza in 2007, and even before, Palestinians have been deliberately deprived of food, resources, and the ability to live freely.
In fact, Israeli officials have openly admitted to “putting Gaza on a diet.”
Not enough to cause mass death all at once, just enough to keep people barely alive.
Leaked documents from 2012 showed that Israel calculated exactly how many calories Palestinians in Gaza could consume without “starving,” while still restricting food imports and destroying local agriculture.
This was not about security. It was about control, punishment, and domination.
The difference now is that the starvation is no longer slow. It is fast. Brutal. Unmasked.
So while October 2023 marked an escalation, the system of blockade, deprivation, and forced hunger has been in place for decades.
Gaza has been under siege.
Palestinians have been resisting slow death for generations.
What we are seeing today is the intended outcome of a long colonial strategy. one we must name and resist in full.
