Jake's Country Meats is a true family farm dedicated to producing premium pasture raised pork, beef, and poultry. Raised in the small farm tradition using local and sustainable practices, our meats are better tasting and more nutritious - produced from humanely raised animals fed all natural diets. Our meat reflects our dedication and commitment to our animals, the land and our families.

Wild discovery in the hay field!
And it is something we’ve never seen before. Turtle burrows…everywhere.
Our dream for our farm is to consistently create a place where it all works together, the land, the animals and the people.

Seeing nature utilize our hay field in an unexpected way, makes working this land even more purposeful.

We are thankful for Gods hand in it all, and being able to be a steward to what He’s given us.

Farmers markets are one of the best parts of a Midwest weekend, for you and for us.

Long before the market opens, our team is loading trucks, driving to town, setting up blue tents, and getting coolers ready for the day.

It is a lot of work, but we think it's worth it.

We get to see familiar faces, meet new customers, answer questions, and help folks bring good food home for the week.

This weekend looks like a beautiful one for market shopping, and we will be out Saturday and Sunday with pasture-raised meats, wild-caught fish, and plenty of farm favorites.

Renee is the voice behind our farm newsletter and many of the updates you’ve been following about The Farmstead. Behind the scenes, she’s also managing logistics, helping customers, shaping the creative vision of our farm, testing recipes, coaching youth sports, and somehow keeping a busy farm family moving forward day after day. We probably missed a few things as well...

All of that while raising four incredible kids.

Still making plans for the weekend? You can always take the Jake Shore Drive… ha.

We were talking the other day about how many of the places carrying our products are located along the Lake Michigan shore. South from New Buffalo, all the way north to Traverse City and beyond, there are small markets, cafés, farmstands, and local businesses all helping connect people to real food.

It’s honestly pretty humbling to step back and realize how many good people have welcomed our farm into their communities over the years.
