I have wanted a power weeder to use in my pumpkin patches for years. Most of these machines require two people for operation and there has been only me and Mamaw up until now, and I knew tempers would flare from both of we tried. So when Brad decided to return, I knew it was as time! So with the help of Hillside Cultivator Company of PA, we are obtaining a one row Eco Weeder. I am excited to not have to use herbicides, have always hesitated to use anymore chemicals than absolutely necessary. Pa’s Posey Patch is finally getting modern!

A very busy week, potting 1,900 mum cuttings, planting two acres of pumpkins. Several more acres to go. Have to work the ground first, weather permitting.

Our son and family have moved back to Cassville and are building a home on our other property. He asked if he could buy some sweet potato slips, I told him sure, I’ve grown them before, usually a couple of hundred. Today 1,500 sweet potato slips arrived on our porch. 500 of three different varieties. We have two weeks to pot 1,900 mum cuttings, plant 15 acres of pumpkins, and maintain several acres of flowers. So no time to plant 1,500 sweet potatoes. Brad plans to plant 600, 200 of each variety. So we have 900 sweet potato slips available free to anyone who wants them here at our farm. Just let us know, the varieties are; Miyazaki, a Japanese variety, Bonita, a Cuban variety, and Beauregard an American variety. Pictures included.
