SOMETHING SPECIAL IS HAPPENING AT THE ARK... 🛶🌳
If you’ve been following Windy Bluff Farm, you know we are the "Home of Happy Goats," but there’s a new project taking over the farm! Meet Tobie’s Chicken Ark. 🧒🐓
Tobie has officially taken the lead on our heritage poultry project. He’s spent months learning about heritage breeds and silvopasture management. My dad took our vision of a true forest-edge habitat and built this beautiful, permanent structure, nestled under the Cedar Grove for deep shade and natural protection. It wasn't originally designed to be an "Ark," but once the build was finished, the shape was unmistakable!
We didn't just want to bring you "eggs." We wanted to bring you the best:
🌳 TRUE SILVOPASTURE: Our hens aren't confined to a field. They thrive in a silvopasture system, integrating trees and pasture across 40 acres. As natural "jungle fowl," they are happiest foraging for bugs and greens under our tree canopy, protected by our dedicated Livestock Guardian Dogs (swipe to see them on duty!).
🔬 PRE-VET PRECISION: Using my Pre-Vet background, we manage this flock through biology, not chemistry. The shade of the cedars reduces stress, while our specialized diet (including Raw ACV with "the mother"& herbs) keeps their immunity and shell quality "Rock-Solid."
🌻 SUNFLOWER YELLOW YOLKS: The buttery, nutrient-dense result of forest-edge forage. You simply won't find this richness in a grocery store!
Tobie is hand-collecting a very limited number of these Heritage eggs each week as we gear up for the Hendersonville Farmers Market opening in May!
