Riptide stables is a 17-acre farm and home to 7 adorable friendly miniature donkeys, 2 miniature horses (some call them ponies) and three beautiful horses; as well as a few furry canine and kitty friends. Our family farm is locally owned and operated by Dawn Berard, Chloe Berard and David McLean with tons of help from the farm’s caregiver and groundskeeper Bobby. We have never opened our farm to t
he public other than the vacationers that often reside in the quaint apartment located above the 8-stall barn. We are very excited to offer privately scheduled events now as well. *Please note we are not open to the public at this time without a scheduled event. From the barn located in the center of the cleared area, there are views of the two ponds and 9 of the 11 fenced areas that are home to the horses and donkeys. One of the ponds has a great deck overlooking the water with one of the picnic tables and a bench on either side. About half the property is still wooded with great trails for nature walks and future hayrides. There is a great space with a bathroom and refrigerator next to the barn with a deck off it and a nice swing to relax and enjoy watching the animals with the sounds of the pond fountains, and an occasional donkey call adding to the tranquility under a massive tree that grows out of through the deck. Whatever your event or occasion we can find a space that is a perfect venue for you. From the quaint apartment overlooking the front pastures and pond to the barn itself, outside picnic tables, around the massive fire pit with some marshmallows or your favorite beverage, or anywhere on the well-kept grounds with tents available to rent from local party supply locations, you will have tons of options rain or shine for your event. Wherever you are at Riptide Stables you will note the open spaces, manicured grounds, and friendly welcoming setting, tucked away yet only minutes from Wilmington located in New Hanover County. Let us host your next event, enjoying just the beautiful farm setting or interacting with the animals, learning about their environment, care, and maybe even helping to groom them.
