Today’s egg harvest. I cherish this early part of my morning. Having fresh air and having a moment to breathe before starting a crazy day. What are parts of your morning routine that you cherish?

Hello all! I have not posted in a while. We have been focusing on so much more than social media but it is time to get back in the swing of things. We just listed this years gorgeous fleeces today on our website. Some local friends were fortunate enough to snag some of these sheepskin rugs at the markets that we recently did. All of our sheepskins are such a labor of love and time. An original art to last in your homes for generations. Link to our website in bio.

Hey people! It’s Julia :) I just wanted to take a second to fill you in…

This year has been filled with changes and there are so many exciting things going on! One of these things is that I’ll be moving! I’ll be about 2.5 hours from the Hudson Valley in a little town with lots of new beginnings for me.

While I’m excited for all the adventures that lie ahead, there are things I’ll miss about this place; the sheep included. Sarah will be taking over Bees & Baas and I know she’ll continue to make me proud and take the best possible care of the flock. She’s an absolute powerhouse and is still such a caring, compassionate person. The sheep and all of you are in such good hands! 🤍

That said, I’m going to miss all of you SO much! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the support you’ve given the past few years, and I hope you continue to be there for Sarah as Bees & Baas transitions into a one-woman show. She’ll have a lot on her plate so please continue cheering her on!

Thank you thank you thank you 🙏🏼
Xo, Julia

Has such a fun day yesterday with . I had the privledge of helping her set up her very first beehive. This has been on my beekeeper bucket list for awhile, and I was so pumped to be able to share what I love with a “new-bee”. I have been so fortunate to have a number of local beekeepers take me under their wings in the beginning of my journey and I was so happy to finally be able to do it for someone else. Check out who has the most beautiful flowers!

Lambing 2023 is under way! Meadow kicked us off with a huge single ram lamb on Monday morning. Last night (2:30 Wednesday morning) Charlotte had a set of twin ram lambs. Charlotte is now owned by our friend and lives over in Chatham but we’ve been helping him out with lambing. The other mama’s, both at Bees & Baas and in Chatham , are looking super close so hoping we have more babes on the ground by the weekend. Sarah, Cody and I are doing barn checks every three hours round the clock…. Send coffee! 🥱😴

What a wonderful day! Thank you so much to and the for putting on such a great movie event for the kids. (And special thanks to Mirissa- your bee costume was fabulous) It was such an honor to help educate the kiddos about our precious pollinators. Also thank you to all my friends and family that came to support me and help. I go to bed with a full heart tonight. 🐝

Full circle moment.

Today I picked up the meat from the lambs born to Bees & Baas. I took care of their mamas during pregnancy, was there when they were born, raised them all their lives, and provided them with a swift and kind death so that that can feed multiple families in our community. Today was years in the making; almost like our report card.

We’re sending a few more lambs to freezer camp in the spring and they’re already reserved. We’ll likely have a small number of tanned hides available but meat share holders get first dibs and they go fast! If you want to get on the wait list for lamb meat or hides, send us a DM! ❤️

So thankful for this guy for holding down the fort and taking care of the sheep whenever I need him! He got shocked by the electric fence today pretty good. Just a reminder that every moment is precious and to love and appreciate those around you. Xoxo enjoy your weekend everyone!

I had the privilege of getting to go to the shearing school this past weekend. The professional shearers make it look so easy and simple… it’s NOT. So so much to learn and probably the hardest thing my body has ever done. I can officially say I’ve shorn sheep, but I wouldn’t call myself a shearer just yet. You are what you repeat, and it’s gonna take a lot of practice and further learning before I can confidently call myself a shearer; but you can bet I’m gonna repeat it because I absolutely loved this weekend and I’m so excited to keep improving in shearing!

Thank you so much to for hosting, to Kyle Partain at for the pictures, and to all the instructors for their help and patience this weekend! And to for his help before and at the school and for letting me use his equipment! I wouldn’t have been able to attend if it weren’t for that.

So crazy to me that a couple days ago I was moving the fence in a T-shirt!

It’s unseasonably warm here in NY! I slept with my windows open last night; because when it’s 70* in November in the north east you take full advantage. The sheep seem to be thriving right now though! It’s perfect weather for them and they show their happiness with randomly frolicking around the field throughout the day. They’re so cute to watch - jumping and spinning like little ballerinas!

Shoutout to for keeping my feet warm and dry year round! My feet would have been soaked walking through the dew covered grass if it wasn’t for them 🤍
