Along with our experienced and dedicated local staff, we sustainably farm ten acres, five of which are in vegetable production this year Our farm offers a traditional CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model as well as the sale of fresh vegetables at the Rutland summer farmers market. Rainy spring days on the farm give us plenty of time for greenhouse work. Stephen picking out early tomatoes to be planted in the beds Ethan is prepping. Lillie loading firewood for the wood stoves in our greenhouses.

Rainy days on the farm are good days to preserve some of the season’s bounty. Today’s canning session is tomato purée from a variety of our tomatoes. It’ll be a taste of summer during the off season.

Summertime at Dutchess Farm & the eating is good! Or should we say “delicious!!” The tomatoes are coming in strong & we have some super sweet carrots too! A HUGE surprise sunflower is blooming right outside our back door…such a ray of sunshine to see every morning!

Do you enjoy being outdoors, working with your hands, and taking home high quality fresh food while earning money? Dutchess Farm is hiring for our 2021 growing season.

During the course of the season job duties would include:

Vegetable harvesting for local markets & CSA's
Weeding
Planting
Washing & sorting vegetables
Mechanical ability is very helpful
Operating small engines (rototiller, w**d trimmer etc...)
Running small work crews

An ideal candidate may possess the following skills and experience:

Experience in vegetable farming
Dependability
Attentiveness to detail
Team player; adaptable & collaborative
Good communicator
Ability to perform labor-intensive tasks
An interest in agriculture and local foods
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Ability to drive manual transmission helpful but not necessary

Our Story

We are Stephen Chamberlain & Beth Palmer. Together with our local & experienced staff we farm 5 acres including 9 greenhouses that extend and enhance the growing season.

We are in our 31st year of production and this experience helps us to provide you with the best produce possible. Our entire operation is located in Vermont, our home in Castleton, our fields in Poultney. We retail produce year round out of our barn in Castleton. If you would like to participate in our weekly barn pickups, please contact us. We do local wholesale, Farm Fresh Connect and CSA shares. We have different CSA share options to fit your needs, both in Castleton and Rutland, and deliver workplace CSA shares.
