Seven Hills Bakery is returning to classic methods by preserving and perfecting hands on baking techniques. They source the best ingredients from partners that farm with the same pride and care Seven Hills takes in transforming them into breads and pastries.

Julien, proprietor of Seven Hills and his crew mix, shape and bake up 275 pounds of dough every day. More than that, he has created a successful sustainable business for his team and the community. The care and pride Julien take in their craft is evident in every delicious bite of their hand made breads and pastries.

This is David Samiljan, the proprietor at in the Castro Valley Marketplace .

While David lives in Benicia, he has a huge amount of admiration and affection for Castro Valley since opening here in 2021.

Baron’s Quality Meats is dedicated to providing meat that is the highest quality, best flavor, adheres to the strictest levels of safety, and has been raised humanely with little impact to the environment.

David is a trained chef who refuses to put meat in the case that does not meet his high standards for flavor, consistency, and quality.

David’s Great grandfather ran the family butcher store in Brooklyn “Baron’s Meat & Poultry”. His passion for quality food and local service started there. Spending his formative years in the shop planted the seed for his life in the food industry.

“I love what I do and we love Castro Valley. They are my kind of people,” Samiljan said. For Baron’s, quality and flavor are number one. Their meats have no hormones or antibiotics. They require their suppliers provide human-grade vegetarian feed, be humanely treated, pasture-raised when possible with minimal impact to the land.
