Veronica (pronounced vero - neeca) is also called Speedwell. It is named for Saint Veronica, who was known for her kindness and compassion. In the language of flowers, it stands for loyalty, fidelity, and devotion.
Its tall, spiky flower stems create vertical texture, and the tiny flowers bloom from the bottom up, creating a long vase life.
It's a pollinator-friendly perennial packed with nectar and loved by both bees and butterflies. Deer, however, do not care for it, making it an easy plant to grow.
You can find it in pink, blue, purple, and white. Check it out in your bouquets this week on Saturday at Historic Manassas Farmers Market and in Haymarket Farmers' Market on Sunday.

New kids on the block for our customers. Lilies are always a showstopper (and not just for their scent). Bupleurum is a funny name but a very sweet plant. Green and gold make a pop in the greenery department. These will be in bouquets this week at farmer's markets. Visit Historic Manassas Farmers Market on Saturday and Haymarket Farmer's Market on Sunday.

Five Friday Facts: In this bouquet, you will find Peonies, Snapdragons, Veronica, and Ninebark.
It's a rainy weekend, which means all of our summer annual seeds we've planted are getting watered really well.
We won't be at the Manassas Farmers Market tomorrow.
We've been planting dahlias for the past week. They are off to a good start with moisture, helping the tubers and shoots grow green leaves and stems.
We had such a busy weekend last week with two markets and Nokesville Day that we are glad to have a short break this weekend.
Although let's be honest, there is always something to do on a flower farm.
It's been a beautiful month of peony bouquets, and they are not done yet. We still have many more coming. CSA subscription season 2 is winding down, with this weekend being the last for many subscribers. Have you signed up for Season 3 beginning in June? www.renzinnia.com/shop Have a great weekend.
