Veronica (pronounced vero - neeca) is also called Speedwell. It is named for Saint Veronica, who was known for her kindness and compassion. In the language of flowers, it stands for loyalty, fidelity, and devotion.
Its tall, spiky flower stems create vertical texture, and the tiny flowers bloom from the bottom up, creating a long vase life.
It's a pollinator-friendly perennial packed with nectar and loved by both bees and butterflies. Deer, however, do not care for it, making it an easy plant to grow.
You can find it in pink, blue, purple, and white. Check it out in your bouquets this week on Saturday at Historic Manassas Farmers Market and in Haymarket Farmers' Market on Sunday.
