This is a heavy one, folks.
We're going through everything at the shoppe, and trying to figure out exactly what to do with each item. The big Charlsie's Bakehouse sign out front was an easy one for me.
Time travel back with me if you would be so kind.
I lost someone very close to me, my sister Bri, to mental illness in 2019. I was so so so lost, and needed to throw myself into work to distract and surround myself. Mental illness is something that is a taboo subject for most, but it's important that it gets talked about so others know they're not alone.
I decided i wasn't going to wait any longer, and started my business. Partly to distract myself, partly because i decided after loss that life it too short.
We started out at the farmers market, then found this cute spot and threw ourselves into over a year of renovations/ permits and overall hell. It probably wasn't the best decision financially, but its what i needed at the time. And apparently what Catonsville needed as well.
So many have shared their stories with me after i announced we were closing. A lot of them being how we helped them get out of the house during postpartum / deep depression, or just us posting silly things made them feel less isolated. I May not have responded to all of you in a timely manner with your sweet messages. Trust me, ive read them all. Closing the Bakehouse was not an easy decision, partly because my sister was an incredibly hard worker and wouldve found a way to stay open. But family comes first.
Time travel back to the Bakehouse sign. I decided to cut up the individual letters (with help from family) and donate the profits made to Bri's scholarship that my mother made as a way to keep her Memory going, and to furthur social work which will help people in Bri's situation.
We have all of the letters on the website, keep in mind there are scratches as it's not a new piece.
Pickup only on the days listed .
Thanks for listening, and take care of yourselves.
