Established 2011; a member-owned and operated cooperative market to provide for and serve the community by having affordable, accessible and sustainable food that benefits local producers, workers, consumers, and the environment. Catonsville Cooperative Market (CCM) is a member-owned food cooperative (coop) based in Catonsville, Maryland. CCM’s owners are made up of community members in Catonsville, Ellicott City, Linthicum, Arbutus, and the Baltimore City region who share a common vision of opening a storefront grocery. We hope to create a community center which is not only a place to shop for groceries, but is a place to receive education, share information, and to gather with other community members. While we continue to strive towards opening a brick-and-mortar market, we are meeting the current shopping needs of member owners. The coop market is open for shopping every other Tuesday (4:30 - 8PM) and every other Saturday (9AM - noon). Local vendors include: Michele's Granola, Taharka Brothers Ice Cream, Neopol Savory Smokery, HEX Ferments, S & S Maple Syrup, Thread Coffee, Maya Herbals, Bee Friendly Apiary, Hale's Homemade Salsa, Mount Royal Soaps, Lor Tush and more. Obtaining members is a key element in growth towards a storefront. Membership fees build capital and show investors that there is a cooperative interest in the community. As a small 100% volunteer market, we're always asking our fellow co-ops for help. Now's our chance to give back! Fellow market, and CCM program partner, Wholesome Harvest Food Co-op in Frostburg, Md. launched a GoFundMe to continue operation of their Healthy Heart Food Program, which has gotten over 10,000 healthy food bags into the hands of nearly 200 local seniors, supported more than 60 SNAP members, and provided 200-plus hot meal vouchers for families in need. Many of you may have even joined our recent webinar with Wholesome Harvest manager, Harold Taylor, who walked us through their market and shared highlights about this very program!
