She likes hot.. Problem is that when I make it, she chugs it like an ice cold glass of water on a hot summer day! I've had to call CPS (Chili Protective Services) on numerous occasions to report the abusive behavior. That said, recipe follows:

12 fresh smoked Habanero peppers
10 fresh smoked Cayenne peppers
02 fresh smoked Jalapenos
01 quart smoked Tomato sauce
02 cups Apple Cider Vinegar
01-02 cups water
03 tbsp Sea Salt

Blend until seeds are no longer visible. Remove from blender and put into 4qt sauce pot. Simmer over low heat 20 minutes.

*Can be made with non smoked ingredients.

Black Wood Farm was accepted into the Utah Pollinator Program 2025. We were awarded 260 native plants to build a thriving, pollen-rich habitat for our bees.

This farmer will be very bzzzzzy over the next few days.

We are so excited for this next adventure and truly grateful for the chance to support the bees we love.

Hayden and Sawyer oversaw operations at Black Wood Mill last week.

After loading up a cart full of the necessary lumber to construct a floor for the new henhouse, it occurred to me that I just spent $232.00 on a considerably small amount of lumber and all I have is a deck!

This wasn't sitting right with me... let's just round this up and say $250.00 for a floor? That's when I realized I just paid the equivalent of what I would spend on a ton of logs at the Wood Company in Parowan.

A quick discussion with Ms. Wanda resulted in me hauling ass across the parking lot and hitting up the return line to receive a refund. I hoped in the truck and dipped out to Parowan. The guys at the lumber yard informed me that I could come out, pick out my trees and they would load em.

The next day I hooked up the tilt bed and headed over to Parowan with cash in hand. They loaded me up, weighed me out and sent me on my way with over 2,000 lbs of Spruce logs.

Joey brought the boys over to watch me make lumber, and I just happened to have a couple of extra hard hats. They took in the entire show, they had a blast!

It's been a very long time since we've posted any content. Just to let you know we are alive and well! Many many changes since our last post! We have added a new high tunnel, and we have a new brood of hens after losing our last flock to Maricks disease.

We brought in 14 Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, and it didn't take long for them to out grow their enclosure, so I was talked into build them emergency shelter. I grabbed one of my cable spools and modified it into a temporary coop.

They are thriving in their new home, and we are excited to have our feathered friends back at the farm. I'll be starting construction on their permanent home very soon!

When the Farmer is down, and the project deadline is in two weeks, the fam shows up, drills in hand. In a mere three hours these four had all 25 rafters assembled and ready for the next phase of the high tunnel build.

Skyler Brown and his son Aiden in from St. George.
