🌱 We can’t believe our Fall Farmer Starter cohort is already halfway through the season!

Our students have been hard at work in the field, building hands-on skills in soil health, crop planning, farm management, business planning, and so much more.

Their student beds are becoming more abundant each week, with fall crops in full swing! From cucumbers, beans, lettuce, cilantro, zinnias, and calendulas to garbanzo beans for the first time, there’s lots growing on the farm!

Students have also been getting out into the community on weekly field trips to learn from other local farms. A big thank-you to our friends at Este Garden, Shepherd’s Flock Farm, River Field Farm, the Refugee Collective Farm, Simple Promises Farm and Gabriel Valley Farm for welcoming our students this fall! 💚

We had such a wonderful time hosting! Thanks to their hard work weeding the rows, our fall crop beds are looking vibrant and have plenty of room for the crops to grow. 🌱

With support from the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) and Tarleton State University, the Texas Center for Local Food (TCLF) is hosting a 3-part online training series about wholesale readiness in local food supply chains. Webinars will feature Texas producers, local food buyers, and subject matter experts. Our goal is simple: Help Texas producers sell more local food!

The series will be hosted on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 7:30pm CT on Zoom. Events are free and open to all!

đź’š The Veggie You-Pick is one of our favorite days on the farm!

Last year, more than 600 people from our community joined us for an afternoon of picking veggies straight from our organic fields, enjoying live music from the Farmgrass Band, and sharing free snacks and beverages with friends and family.

We’re looking forward to doing it all again at our 13th Annual Veggie You-Pick on Saturday, December 5!

Entry is free, and a $50 Veggie Bag gets you a haul of fresh, organic produce to take home. Come explore the farm, enjoy some good food and music, and spend the afternoon with our community.

🌱 Meet Nelly, Farmshare’s new Administrative Manager!

We’re so excited to welcome Nelly Paulina Ramírez to the Farmshare team. She brings experience in business administration, event management, nonprofits, and startups, along with a longtime love of local food. She first fell in love with CSA shares and food co-ops while in college at Hampshire College.

A Dallas native, Nelly has called Central Texas home for the past 20 years. When she’s not working, you can usually find her in the kitchen, cooking up recipes with a little Texas and a little Yucatán for friends, family, and neighbors.
