An anonymous donor has pledged a $25,000 matching gift to Farmshare Austin! Starting today through November 1, every dollar you give will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling your impact for 33,000 Austinites who rely on Fresh for Less to access affordable groceries.

The City of Austin’s recent budget cuts eliminated $510,000 in funding for Fresh for Less, putting our Mobile Markets & Home Delivery program at risk. Our current funding runs out on October1, and we’re turning to our community to help keep fresh, healthy, and affordable food moving through Central Texas.

The match is already underway! $3,000 of the $25,000 match has been claimed, with $22,000 still needed by November 1.

🍯🐝 Farmer Starter students got hands-on with honey harvesting alongside Two Hives Honey!

Students learned the difference between extracting honey and cut comb harvesting, gaining a firsthand look at the many steps involved in bringing honey from hive to table.

And the coolest part? Two Hives brought their modified ambulance-turned-honey-harvest station right to the students! 🚑🍯 What an unforgettable way to turn the classroom into the apiary.

Protect Food Access for 33,000 Austinites

Farmshare Austin is losing $510,000 in City of Austin funding for Fresh for Less, with the cut taking effect in November.

This funding helps us provide fresh, affordable food to 33,000 low-income Austinites through Mobile Markets and Home Delivery. Without immediate community support, we may have to reduce Mobile Markets, cut Home Delivery for customers with limited mobility, purchase less produce from local farmers, and lay off key staff.

We need to raise $255,000 by November 1 to keep these services running.

George had big ideas, a generous spirit and a deep passion for uplifting our community and supporting local businesses. He supported Farmshare in many meaningful ways, and we’re grateful for his generosity and all he did to champion our work. He will be deeply missed.

We’re holding his family, friends and loved ones in our hearts and sending our deepest condolences to all who knew and loved him. 🤍

At his FY27 Budget Town Hall on 8/10, Council Member Jose Velasquez listened as Farmshare E.D. Andrea Abel explained that residents in his district will face increased difficulty accessing fresh, healthy and affordable produce and groceries if the City of Austin cancels Farmshare's $255,000 Fresh for Less Mobile Markets & Home Delivery contract included in the budget. Austin City Council will finalize the FY27 budget by Friday, August 14th.

We’re excited to welcome Ashley, Christian, Felicia, Indira, Michelle, Molly, Nici, Noel and Sol! Our newest cohort kicked off last week and is already getting hands on in the field, seeding crops for the fall season and learning to use equipment like the BCS. 🚜
