Greetings and Happy Friday!! It looks like it's going to be the last gorgeous weekend of the year so get outside and enjoy it! Just wanted to let you know, I will be presenting in Suttons Bay to the "By the Bay Garden Club" this coming Monday Oct 12th at the Suttons Bay fire station at 1pm. Although the ad here says mentions starting a greenhouse etc, the main presentation is about POLLINATORS!! For those of you who don't know, I'm a certified pollinator champion through MSU and will talk about who the pollinators are, why they are important, and what you can do to help them! I will also be bringing honey to sell at this time. It's open to the public so come join us NEXT MONDAY in Suttons Bay!

Thanks,

Jason

Our Garden Sunflowers supply our pollinators that late season pollen and nectar they continuously search out!

A look inside a hive. The emerging bees in this video are like super-bees! Instead of only living for 4-6 weeks, these bees will actually overwinter and hopefully carry the hive into the spring! Enjoy

Probably the last hummingbird I'll see this year. Just like the tourist leave the county, so does our local population of hummingbirds. Yet for the past few weeks we've still been getting the migrants coming from the north. So make sure to maintain the plants they've been hitting or if you have a feeder, keep it out for another week or so to give them the resources they need. AND THEN WE GET TO LOOK FORWARD TO THEIR RETURN!!!!

QUESTION: Does anyone know any of the administrators for "Overheard in Leelanau County"?? For whatever reason, they never approve my useful, very selective (always pertaining to our ONSITE farming) and seldom posts on their site. Yet, they approve lavender farms, strawberries, sourdough and people selling pumpkins that aren't even growing them, politics and all the other random nonsense etc. People have been asking for honey for the past 3 months and now I have it but can't post it.
Your help is appreciated!!! Thanks, Jason
