Honey Creek Orchard

Honey Creek Orchard A fun and unique farm experience for the entire family to enjoy.

A blank canvas that we bought and created a farm to make memories with our children while teaching them where their food comes from, work ethic and business principles and sharing the love and joy of food and hard work with family and friends. All the activities to play, farm animals to see, apples and pumpkins to pick, enjoy delicious apple donuts and other farm goodies and more!

Fitting all the things in this Summer!
Strawberry picking has become something we look forward to and love that our local farmers work so so hard to have their fields available for U Pick.

Eickstedt Produce LLC was wonderful!

Well organized, plenty of strawberries and Owen snagged some fresh Whole milk and a steak on the way out.
We’ve never been but if you have time during their season, we’d highly suggest you stop. 🍓
20 lbs of strawberries later and many recipes ahead.

We practice what we preach about supporting local and we will always support our local farmers because we’re all on the same page. Not competitors but caretakers and producers.
Thank you Eickstedts for a great experience and delicious produce.

We run on Faith every year as farmers. All we can control are our thoughts, actions, beliefs and effort and this year is no different.

If you follow any local farmer you’ll see the same story… spring time heavy rains, a late frost, then super dry for weeks during planting season and now low crop yield.
We show up every day and year doing our best and pray for weather conditions that lead to a bountiful crop but as we walked through the orchard we see it’s not that. The blooms of the apples were open during the frost and half the orchard was affected.

But we continue on. That’s the only choice we have.

We pray the remaining apples flourish, the pumpkins sprout and the squashes thrive. We know as caretakers of this land that God knows that even with a lesser crop, it’s better than a subdivision or data center so as our seasons come for selling produce, please please support your local farmers at whatever price they’re selling.

Your strawberries, apples, peaches, veggies, meat, pumpkins and more may be more than your local grocery store but when you buy direct from the farmer you know where it comes from, you know you’re supporting a family you see in the community and you minimize the supply chain.

We are continuously thankful for your support, always.
Without you there would be no us.

Thank you for supporting farmers in this community whether it’s financially buying produce, slowing down behind a tractor, liking and sharing posts, telling friends or just saying a thank you at your dinner table when you eat.

There are many things happening in this moment and it’s hard to explain without a novel. It’s a long 2 min video of Owen operating and Charlie by his side.

Strolling upon what was happening in the Maple Bush, I find Owen in the piece of machinery we named Cheeto (classic for Cheeto Charlie.. it’s orange and Charlie’s love of heavy machinery annnnd Cheetos :) )

Owen hasn’t really been the operator of heavy machinery in the last couple years, that was Charlie. Owen has been deep in all the poultry animals, sports activities, scholastic shooting club and caretaker of many other things on the farm. Lately, Owen has shown interest in learning how to operate heavy machinery and tractors.

While Joe is the main teacher, what you see here is Charlie 🚜, the younger brother, teaching and leading all of his knowledge he has learned to Owen.
Owen is gracefully learning, slow and steady applying, and operating.

Something that often gets overlooked is that when you pay somebody to do a job, you’re not just paying for the heavy piece of machinery, you’re paying for their knowledge, application of skills, and doing a job in a timely manner. Whether it is construction job, a plumber, a teacher or a doctor, it’s the skills they’ve learned and can apply to your need.

What you’re also seeing is also unfortunate because why are all the trees dying suddenly? You can go down a deep rabbit hole of whatever your opinions are, but why are your plants and vegetable plants dying, the random trees in your yard, and all these established trees in the maple bush?

We’re caretakers of this land and doing our best but some days it feels like an uphill battle against things out of our control.
In the meantime, we will continue to teach, apply, learn, and do our very best as the caretakers of the land that God has given us. Our kids are doing their best and seeing Charlie 🚜 teach Owen and Owen learn has deep meaning to Joe and I.

Pray for some rain, be patient behind the tractors and be sure to enjoy your day ahead 🥰
