Squirrels & Stuff Farm

Squirrels & Stuff Farm A small farmstead tucked away in the Central Maine mountainside.

We raise pastured heritage rabbits for meat, goats for meat & milk, honeybees for pollination, and heritage ducks and geese for entertainment (mostly).

We're excited to share that we are participating in the MOFGA journeyperson program for the next two years!

MOFGA’s Journeyperson Program provides hands-on support, training, and mentorship for people who are serious about pursuing careers in organic farming in Maine. The program is designed for farmers in their first three to five years to further develop the skills they need to farm independently and successfully.

If you are curious about the program for your own farm business or want to see what other farmers are in the program along with us, check out more info on their website!

Good read about eating goat!

Almost all of the world eats goat meat. Here in the U.S., it’s complicated.

We left a bunch of apples on this tree for "decoration" and so we could watch them freeze & sweeten over time. Now the birds have a sweet treat for the end(ish) of winter.

Do you know what type of bird this is?

We're 1 month into our Brie-style cheese attempt. We tried cutting into a medium sized wheel this weekend but are so sick that neither of us can taste anything. So instead, here's a video & pics of our first tasting from 1 week ago. It's of the smallest wheel which aged too quickly (as expected).

We are specifically trying to see how the large one comes out after 2 months of aging. This is a raw milk cheese made using cow's milk, and in Maine any raw cheese being sold must be aged a minimum of 60 days. We have thoughts, edits, and ideas for future batches, but for now we're just having fun learned the technique and tormenting Odie.

(He does get to eat some and so does Bear)

(maybe don't) find you someone who looks at you the way Bear looks at Frank.

He only wants to control her, follow & watch her every move, herd her into a corner and stare at her for hours on end, he's not afraid of a gentle "chomp," has excessive patience and will never give up.

Big stalker energy. It's a toxic relationship for them both.
