🐷🐔🦆 Come Meet Our Farm Friends! 🐱🐶❤️
Just a little update on the animals (sorry again for the long post). One of our favorite parts of G&B Farm Stand is getting to share our animals with our community! If you're stopping by the stand, we'd love for you to take a few extra minutes to visit our feathered, furry, and four-legged family.
The visitor animal area is located just across the bridge and to the right of the farm stand. Feel free to pull in—there's plenty of room to park and turn around.
🥕 Before you head over, don't forget to grab a couple cups of FREE animal treats from the farm stand! The animals always appreciate the snacks, and it's a fun way to interact with them.
🐷 Our pigs are always excited to see visitors and absolutely love treats! Feel free to offer them a few snacks from outside the fence. While they're incredibly friendly and gentle, they're also very large and surprisingly strong. They don't mean any harm, but they can accidentally bump into or knock someone over while asking for more treats or scratches. For everyone's safety, visitors (especially children) are not allowed inside the pig pen. Please enjoy visiting them from outside the fence only.
🐔 Our large chicken run is home to our growing flock of approximately 14-19 week old hens. You're welcome to step inside and spend some time with them! Many of the girls enjoy treats, and if one allows you to, you're welcome to gently pick her up for a visit. Please move slowly, be gentle, and always make sure the gate is securely latched behind you when entering and leaving. If one of the girls decides she'd rather go shopping at the farm stand than stay in her run, don't panic! 😂 Just gently encourage her back inside before latching the gate. If she doesn't cooperate, no worries—they won't run away. Simply let us know over messenger, and we'll happily get her back where she belongs. You may notice that some chickens you've met on previous visits aren't in this pen anymore. As we begin focusing on our breeding projects, some of our birds now live in a separate area of the farm that isn't open to visitors.
🐥 Our small chick run is home to the younger generation—our 5-10 week old chicks that we've hatched right here on our farm! Think of them as the toddlers of the flock. They're still growing and learning, so if you choose to pick one up, please be extra gentle and respectful. You'll also meet Henrietta, who currently lives with the babies because of a leg injury and retirement. She's become quite the little mama to the youngsters, and we think she enjoys having a flock of little ones to watch over. ❤️
🐓 Our Bachelor Flock is home to all of our boys! While roosters sometimes get a bad reputation, ours have always been friendly with people and love treats. Since they don't particularly enjoy being handled, we ask that visitors not try to pick them up. Feel free to offer them treats and enjoy watching their personalities shine! Although we've never had one show aggression toward people—especially now that they don't have hens to protect—they are still roosters, so we ask everyone to use a little extra caution while visiting them.
🦆 Our ducks free-range around the farm full-time, so you never know where you'll find them! They may be swimming, exploring, chatting with each other, or waddling around to greet visitors. They love treats and are always entertaining to watch, but they usually prefer to keep all four webbed feet on the ground instead of being picked up.
🐱 Our farm cats are part of the welcoming committee and tend to make their own rules. They may follow you around, supervise your shopping, nap in the sunshine, or demand a few pets before continuing with their important farm duties.
🐰 You may also spot Bashful, my daughter's Rex rabbit, hopping around the property during the day! She free-ranges alongside the barn kitties and enjoys exploring the farm just as much as they do. No, she isn't lost! 😂 If Bashful decides to hop over and say hello, you're more than welcome to gently pet her. Just please let her come to you and remember she lives here, so no bunny-napping! 🩷
🐶 And of course, there's Tuff! Our rescue farm dog likes meeting people on her own terms. She may come over to inspect who's visiting or simply watch from a distance. If she decides you're worthy of pets, she'll gladly accept them! We also keep dog treats available at the farm stand, so if she's interested, feel free to offer her one. You can even grab a cup to take home for your own pup!
A few friendly reminders:
🌾 Please securely latch every gate behind you when entering and leaving a pen.
🌾 Children must be supervised at all times.
🌾 No visitors are allowed inside the pig pen.
🌾 Please be gentle and respectful with all of the animals.
🌾 This is a real working farm. Expect dirt, mud, feathers, uneven ground, animal droppings, and maybe even a little farm smell—that's all part of farm life!
🌾 Please only feed the treats provided at the farm stand unless we've given permission otherwise.
🌾 Please throw away treat cups and any trash before leaving.
🌾 Animals can be unpredictable, even friendly ones. Please respect their space and use common sense while visiting.
🌾 Visitors enter the animal area at their own discretion and are responsible for supervising themselves and their children.
🌾 For the safety of our animals, visitors, and farm stand, our property is monitored by security cameras.
Most importantly, remember these aren't zoo animals—they're beloved members of our family. ❤️ Some will run right up to say hello, some may rather watch from a distance, and others may be "busy doing important farm business". Every animal has its own personality, and that's one of our favorite things about them.
